The only issue I have is that my tweens will definitely see Doomsday, but I don't think I want them watching any of the Deadpool movies to properly prep. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love them, but they ate rated R for a reason.

“Hey remember how no one likes really anything we’ve done since Endgame? Well here is a list of all the dumb shit we’ve put out since that you need to watch in order for this to make sense”. Lol, get a life Marvel.

i think instead of that i'm gonna waltz into the theater as if i remember all these movies i watched ten years ago and ask the guy to my right "who's that??" "what're they from??" "wait wasn't he dead??"

I had seen folks riffing on this, and thought it was just a joke someone had made up. But no, the same event mania that made me give up on Marvel Comics decades ago is evidently now infecting Marvel Studios.

I don't think I could ever get away with saying, "Before you read my next article, please read 15 of my previous articles and podcast appearances."

Eh, this is more like "remember to watch the season + a couple of classic episodes before watching the season finale" rather than "read a bunch of unrelated stuff before this." Like, I read a lot of articles that point back to previous articles to provide additional context, so it is done.

The way it always worked previously was that Avengers films were culminations of everything that came before Even when IW and Endgame came in quick succession, Ant-Man 2 bridged the gap in an important way Doomsday is the 39th MCU film, they are admitting over half the catalog is worthless filler

Marvel Studios is the only studio that has "required watching" for its stable. Which is understandable because its literally copying the comic book format. It is (was?) an outlier in the industry until they hit a Billion with each movie. Most studios still keep your stand-alone aesthetic.

Except these are comic book characters. And like they do in those, they use them to get people to buy as much as their stuff as they can offload. Wait an extra year and they will flog you off their anniversary edition of the movie and the graphic novel of the movie....

Transformers Project Hail Mary The Batman Alien Sonic The Hedgehog 3 The Mandalorian Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem John Wick The SpongeBob Movie The LEGO Movie Sausage Party The Northman Predator: Badlands Avatar: Fire & Ash Reacher The Odyssey 9 The Crow Monsters vs Aliens Toy Story

I'll wait for the network broadcast where they rearrange all the scenes from all the movies to be in chronological order like the Godfather.

It says something about my "comfort viewing" habits, but the only one on the final list that I've only watched once was "Deadpool and Wolverine", and FF only got a second view because it popped up on Disney+ sooner than I expected.

Here's the thing: that list literally means nothing. If someone wasn't interested in doomsday, then they weren't gonna watch all those anyway. If someone was interested in doomsday, then they most likely have already seen all those anyway.

What’s insane? Here are some things we think you should watch so the movie makes more sense? How dare they make a suggestion that’s completely voluntary.

It’s like one a week. If someone wants to do that, why is that so terrible? It’s not like it’s 15 in two weeks. Also, why is you not wanting to do it the better option? People aren’t allowed to watch movies they like multiple times anymore?

Oh wow, Marvel thinks its entire audience should pay again for every single film and TV show they've ever released? What a shocker. It's almost as if they enjoy having billions of dollars.

No but real talk I think Marvel missed a golden opportunity here by making it a REAL list (of stuff *everyone* has seen!) instead of leaning into the "tired of homework!" meme and doing an ad where like Deadpool gives a fake list of largely unrelated movies. bsky.app/profile/ign....

"..also, 'Its A Mad Mad Mad Mad World.' It's not canon, but you'll have some context for why none of this is as new as the internet thinks it is. And you'll get like 40 Family Guy references you never did before."

-all 3 seasons of Smiling Friends -Idiocricy -Urotsukidoji: Legend if The Overfiend -LOTR The Return of The King -Eight Crazy Nights -ITS PAT! -GARBAGE PAIL KIDS -The Flash -Meet The Feebles -Terror Firmers -Brain Dead/Dead Alive -all 1000ish episodes of One Piece -& the passing of my cat

Holy shit. Like .... Do people here see a TV series and just jump to the last episode? I genuinely don't get the outrage. Y'all fucking see John wick 4 and get pissed because you have to watch 1-3 to understand what's going on?

One funny thing about this is that one of the Doomsday trailers is Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm basically giving us Victor Von Doom 101. Between that and the other trailers, it is quite clear what the general storyline will be.

Everyone is reacting weirdly to the list that is basically "watch the old X-men movies, the Avengers movies, and then PLEASE watch all the new movies too! We promise they're relevant! We don't know why you all didn't want to see Thunderbolts but we promise it will be SUPER important!"

Because the new Dr. Doom has nothing to do with previous versions. His motivations, even hos origin story seem to be at least modified from the movies and comics, based on Sue's monologue in the new trailer.

Never happened in anything I've seen. The only season 6's I've seen are from Doctor Who, Yes (Prime) Minister, Red Dwarf, Simpsons, South Park and Teekyu, all of which break the storytelling up into far smaller chunks. I can't imagine a serial over six (or more) series actually being any good.

Won't be working through the whole list, but I will at least be watching Fantastic 4 since that's the only one that I haven't already seen yet.

Or I could not watch it until it comes out on Disney+ when I will have it on in the background while I do something else actually fun. No one cares about the story, especially the writers. Marvel is action and cgi movies.

Bambi, The Longest Day, Vertigo, Dick Van Dyke Show (walnuts episode), M*A*S*H (all seasons), Cat Ballou, Silent Running, Coal Miner's Daughter, Kurosawa's Ran, Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, The West Wing (all), Bridge Over the River Kwai, The Gods Must Be Crazy I, Shane, The Bear*

X-Men X2 Captain America: 1 The Avengers Avengers: Infinity War Avengers: Endgame Loki Shang-Chi Spider-Man: No Way Home Black Panther: 2 Captain America: 2 Deadpool & Wolverine Doctor Strange 2 Thunderbolts The Fantastic Four: First Steps

I hadn't seen an MCU film since No Way Home when I went to Brand New Day, and had a handful of "huh, I guess those two met at some point" moments. You'd need to see nearly 45 films and multiple series to get EVERY reference, so just watch whatever you feel like.

I think thats what actually annoys me. Like the MCU is a TV show that gets a two new episodes a year. I can accept that I need to watch every episode to watch the season finale. But then they added in the D+ stuff, & now the Fox stuff.
