As extreme weather drives climate migration in Bangladesh, secondary cities remain unprepared to protect arriving populations. A study warns that without supportive policies for housing & employment, moving away from environmental threats exposes families to risks. Fellow Usraat Fahmidah reports.

In Alberta a big part of the strategy is data centres as "digital refining" to produce value from additional natural gas use (and leverage the cold weather). This is not some kind conspiracy theory but clearly stated on the website describing the data centre strategy www.alberta.ca/datacentres/...

Erik Schlenker-Goodrich@riogranderift.bsky.social

Helpful for a Vice President of the American Gas Association to explain why AI data centers pursue behind-the-meter natural gas-fired power gen. Counters the wishful thinking that renewables & unicorns will blossom everywhere if BAAJA passes. Remember: BAAJA is 💯 based on market assumptions.

Please consider signing this petition. Salmon aquaculture in Ireland is polluting coastal waters, contributing to the collapse of wild salmon and driving overfishing for its feed – all despite organic labelling. And is a future we want? Chicken-remnant-fed fish? swanireland.ie/take-action/...

Another reason to support our petition to ban open-net fish farms! Chicken-fed salmon is coming to Irish supermarkets and while currently salmon farms in Ireland are not using this practice, the same producers adopting this method overseas are operating here.  Sign our petition. Link in comments!

How can one make sense of this? It's a question I'm struggling with. On Sep 29, an underaged driver on a two-wheeler hit my dad while he was crossing the road in my hometown Nashik in India. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and entered a comma within minutes.

My father lived a good life for 24,720 days and then, with a snap of the fingers, he became a part of a grim statistic. Humans are sense-making machines, and, after a month of trying to make sense, I can say that it isn't always a blessing.
