My unshakable conviction is that America could fix its politics by importing a dozen British journalists to sit in events like this laughing loudly.

It features a huge ballroom with niches for portraits of the dictator and his wife and a sliding roof so that a helicopter can enter and exit. The building also had a nuclear bunker. The aesthetic sense of the two men is much the same but Trump’s construction will probably be even worse.

I have been trying to think of what Trump’s hideous “ballroom” project reminds me of — and I finally have it — it is Nicolai Ceausescu’s infamous and unfinished House of the People in communist Romania, which also brought awfulness to a lovely downtown.

Since there’s an opening for press secretary, I know a great candidate who’s not only a lawyer, but a neurosurgeon, a Grammy-winning recording artist, and the inventor of the Post-It Note.

Trump, Vance, Hegseth, whatever this is - they’re all just so profoundly weird. And they have the gall to attack trans people for altering their bodies.

We are just out of a summer with five record breaking heatwaves which literally killed thousands and bought climate change up close and personal for millions for the first time. This should be the Greens' big moment in history. But instead they're doing this. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

If you believe this, I have a bridge to sell you. The prime directive of the Conservative Party is to get and hold power. The idea that it would risk throwing away the opportunity merely because it involved an albeit uncomfortable arrangement with another right-wing party is clearly for the birds.

I think it's absolutely mad that today there's a *national news story* about 400 oil platform workers losing their jobs, and the government being blamed. 25% of the UK TV industry lost their jobs in the last 4 years and we never hear a peep about it! Some jobs are 'real jobs' I guess.

Normal? Not at all. Birdsong fades. Summer temperatures soar. The danger is we simply adjust – but we shouldn’t. We cannot allow the climate crisis to rewrite our idea of what's normal.

I'm sorry, but what on *Earth* is that quote from Lisa Nandy? Who does Labour think its voters are? Does anyone in the party have any kind of theory of how they win the next election that isn't just slammjng the "appease racists" button over and over again until it starts working?
