For decades, people talked about pedestrianising Oxford Street. Yesterday, we made it happen. Almost 1km of our nation’s most famous high street is now officially traffic-free. And this is just the beginning.

A well-deserved recognition after scoring an astonishing 73 goals for club and country last season - and who can forget the starring role he played at this summer’s World Cup, including the winning goal against Mexico on that magical night in the Azteca?

70 years after the inaugural Ballon d’Or was won by England’s Sir Stanley Matthews, it was fitting that the ceremony should come to London for the first time. Not only is he a Tottenham and England legend, but he is now - officially - one of the greatest of all time.

Oxford Street is one of the world's most famous high streets. Pedestrianisation can help unlock its full potential, creating a safer, greener and more vibrant destination for shoppers, visitors and businesses alike.

I've always believed Oxford Street could be so much more than a road. Today we begin a new chapter as the nation’s high street goes traffic free, creating a place where people can spend time, enjoy the atmosphere and experience the very best of our city.

Thanks to our efforts, Stratford International is much closer to welcoming international trains by 2030. Direct links to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam would bring jobs, investment and new opportunities to east London and beyond. It's time for Stratford International to live up to its name.

A new era for the nation’s high street starts in two days. Nearly a kilometre of Oxford Street will become traffic-free, creating more space for people and marking the beginning of its biggest transformation in a generation.

Tackling antisemitism means more than responding after incidents occur. We must challenge prejudice before it takes hold. That's why City Hall has invested £17m through the Shared Endeavour Fund, supporting groups like the Anne Frank Trust to educate young people and build resilience against hate.

South London knows talent when it sees it. Huge congratulations to Raye on winning the Mercury Prize. As someone who also grew up in Tooting, it's great to see a fellow south Londoner who started out in our community take home one of music's biggest honours.

We cannot allow the devastating legacy of transatlantic slavery to be forgotten. We’re supporting 10 community groups across the city to explore this history and help create a network of memorials linked to The Wake, London’s new Memorial to Victims of Transatlantic Slavery.

A room full of people celebrating one simple idea: back young Londoners and they'll go far. In the 10 years I’ve been patron, the Mayor's Fund for London has supported more than 500,000 young people and invested £30m in communities across our city.

Good news: The latest ONS crime stats show that theft from the person (e.g. phone theft) was driven down by 24% over the last year.. Robbery of personal property was driven down 12%. Our hard work and record funding from City Hall is paying off.

Not every young person has a shortcut to success. Growing up on a council estate, the support around me mattered. That’s why I’m investing in youth clubs across London and opening more doors for young people.

Stratford is one of London's best-connected transport hubs. Adding international rail services would take that connectivity even further, linking East London and beyond directly to Europe while supporting jobs, tourism and growth.

Shoplifting is not a victimless crime. It harms businesses, workers and communities, and those responsible must face the full force of the law. Backed by record City Hall investment, the Met is working with retailers and partners to crack down on shoplifting and protect London's high streets.

Thank you to everyone who joined me and London Assembly Members for People’s Question Time Islington last night. Hearing directly from Londoners is so important, and I’m grateful to everyone who came along to share the issues that matter to them and their communities.

The London Aquatics Centre was built for the biggest names in swimming. Soon, it'll welcome them back. Delighted we're hosting the final leg of the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup. It's yet another reminder that London is the sporting capital of the world.

The poison of antisemitism has absolutely no place in our city, and certainly not in our schools. Reports of antisemitic incidents in schools in England have risen by 59% in just one year. This is appalling.

There has been a concerning rise in fires caused by e-bike and e-scooter batteries across London. The London Fire Brigade is urging Londoners to take extra care when charging and storing batteries. Always use approved chargers, buy from reputable retailers and keep escape routes clear.

No one should face abuse or violence because of their faith. Following these despicable assaults in Stamford Hill, I want to reassure our Jewish communities that police have made an arrest, are investigating and have increased patrols. Anyone with information should contact the police immediately.
