It is 1993. The River Café has opened but St John has not. Lewis Bassett faxes a pitch through to the Guardian G2. In 2026, they reply.

I believe the precise wording was "Shove that ballroom up your FAT ass!"

FactPost@factpostnews.bsky.social

Trump is interrupted by a protester in Mississippi: "Shove that ballroom up your ass!"

He's not arguing with the Saddam Hussein part of the joke

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump is BIG MAD about Obama saying the White House now looks like Saddam opened a Cheesecake Factory: "He's not a smart guy. He's not smart at all ... for you to say it's a Cheesecake Factory, that just shows why you were a lousy president"

This was kinda obvious right at the start of the bubble It's too variable, unreliable, and nondeterministic to truly improve productivity Mass-automating mediocrity in both coding and media destroys value and doesn't create it

Abandoned cordons sanitaire everywhere you look:

Joel S.@joelhs.bsky.social

This is one of the larger left-of-center Facebook pages, and I do feel like a few years ago, left-of-center people on social media with large audiences were not using terms like “goyslop”?

I know this all washes over people after a while (a decade) but it really shouldn't

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump: "Somalia -- 98% of the people here now from Somalia don't work. They don't have to work because they steal so much. They all have a Mercedes Benz. Low IQ and they live better than you do."

Absolutely kills Trump that he'll never be as funny as this guy, so the whole world must die.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Obama in Michigan: "He is focused on home renovations. He should be on HGTV! ... He's got the White House looking like Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory"

I am quite genuinely fascinated by the psychology of this. After two or three Facebook posters for local events which were so busy they honestly made me feel a bit nauseous, I snapped and said that AI posters give me headaches. And the person who made this this asked me HOW I CAN TELL IT'S AI:

The 2028 ticket is going to be interchangeable men in shirts with sensible haircuts and the world is ready for it.

I'm sorry, but this is such bollocks. Are they seriously suggesting *a quarter* of all tourists would not visit the UK because of a tax which nearly every other European country (not to mention nearly every US state) has? Give over...

Legislation will be tabled in weeks to allow overnight visitor levies, despite fierce opposition from the hospitality sector and some local councils

JUST POSTED: Today at The NYT we are publishing a major investigation into how President Trump used his executive powers to expose millions of Americans to greater cancer risks. A six month-long investigation built on more than 10,000 pages of FOIA records. Read it www.nytimes.com/2026/10/24/c...

nytimes.comHow Trump Gave the Worst Polluters a Free Pass (Gift Article)The president temporarily waived clean-air rules for industrial facilities that spew cancer-causing gases. Then his appointees worked to gut the regulations altogether.

Why did the man who posted "Zelensky has gone too far" immediately after Ukraine attacked Russian data centres do this? I guess we will never know.

The Editorial Board@editorialboard.bsky.social

1. The Wall Street Journal and CBS News confirmed that Elon Musk was involved in the decision to stall out Starshield, the military version of Starlink, when Ukraine needed it most. www.cbsnews.com/news/elon-mu...

I doubt BlueSky will be as bothered but Barclays is cutting 5,000 jobs today. Standard Chartered cut 7,000 last month. Because of AI. Doesn't make Uni struggles any better, but it's *everywhere* across the professions.

Charlotte Lydia Riley@lottelydia.bsky.social

University of Nottingham, right now, is cutting 560 jobs. Do we need to rebrand universities as very large, very clean, land-based oil rigs to get government support?

I went on his site to look at this and was genuinely surprised that the top served replies and quotes were negative to Musk. Guess that's what happens when the Russian data centres get taken out, and why he thinks "Zelensky has gone too far"

Toby Buckle@polphilpod.bsky.social

i don't think we can come to a reasonable compromise with this

The full film of this is one of the greatest things on YouTube

Birmingham 81@birmingham81.bsky.social

Remembering Steve Cropper on his birthday - one of the greatest guitarists ever. This clip is taken from a short French documentary, filmed in 1969 at the Stax and Fame studios. Watch it in full at youtu.be/ste1KIwjbLE

I can't remember who said it but if Fred Trump had just bought his son a couple of Broadway theatres to manage then Donald would have had a very happy and generally uneventful life.

The News Agents@thenewsagents.co.uk

"There were whispers.. 'the president has some interesting opinions about the male form'. "It's been on the radar, or the gaydar, for a number of years." As Trump goes on about mens asses, @milestaylor.bsky.social remembers some "odd" moments from his time working in the White House..

You can explain this to the French, but if you explain it to the French then things are going to get burnt in the streets a little bit and that's just the price of being French

Leonardo Carella@leonardocarella.bsky.social

Like, someone should explain to Americans that - no - prices will not go down, prices will go up but by less and by the same amount wages go up, and someone should explain the French that - no - you cannot retire at 60 when life expectancy is 83 and fertility rates are below population replacement.
