I haven't looked at everything, but it does look like this 'works'. For instance the knights all are unable to capture any piece of a different color via wall thickness and can't move 'out' of their pens because the corridors out are too narrow for L-shaped movement. Bishops can't hit anything

I can't help but notice that the knights are only trapped if one presumes that the turn in their movement must land on an open square, but if they can jump to their destination they're free to roam the board.

In chess, a Knight's movement is not impeded by a piece sitting on the 90° angle of their move. It simply moves to a square 1 away in one direction and 2 away in two directions. So can you explain what is "wrong"?

Please let's have a #MAGA-Zoo ¹. Then watch them all throw poo at each other all day long! ¹ Say the word MAGA-Zoo in the style of the song, that will be your worm-tune (fear not, for this worm wont make you #wormshitcrazy) for the day, Xanadu.

No there aren't. They can move from pen to pen, but they can never fully escape the zoo, OR get into position to capture opposing pieces.
