The fact that I romanticize physical stores is weird. What exactly did I value about going shopping? It's probably more that I don't like staying home. What is the opposite of "romanticize"? That is what I feel towards staying home.
Physical stores are going to take an even bigger hit than I realized.
I still have to untangle this. It seems to have something to do with a disagreement with the Catholic church about people immediately going to heaven after death. But also could be a correction to misunderstandings among the laity from "Doom paintings" in England?
Wait so Tyndale is to blame for "sheol" being translated sometimes as "grave" and sometimes as "hell"?
So my basic steps for this deep dive study of "Hell". (1) tabulate all the mentions in OT, NT, church fathers (2) group verses by like phrasing (3) group verses by time frame of publication to assess development of thought (4) repeat all these steps again for "judgment" and "spirit"
Btw, of the 109 mentions of Sheol, Hades, or Infernus that I've found so far in the Hebrew and Aramaic scriptures, only 25 of these are found in the scraps of the DSS and the DSS agrees entirely in all 25 cases with the Masoretic text. (with the exception that the DSS includes a mention in Tobit)

Updated to add the Dead Sea Scrolls, for kicks. Had to rely on Google Gemini for the apocrypha / deuterocanonical works among the DSS, because I couldn't find english translations online and I can't read Hebrew or Aramaic.

I'm officially committing to a deep dive into historical critical study of "Hell". Here's one of the spreadsheets I've started during the research phase.
