Getting some new followers here! I'm a game developer from South America working on a speedrunning firefighter game! HEAT DIVISION: Rescue Team! Made with #GameMaker Wishlist it on Steam !!! 🔥 store.steampowered.com/app/2392010/ Likes and Retweets appreciated 🚒 !!!

At the end of the day; I guess it's best we admit that, overall, the Nintendo DS has a better game catalogue than the PSP, for better and for worse...

One of the biggest problems with AI projects is that they are so verbose it takes an incredible amount of time going through the docs before you realize they’re lying and hallucinating and thus wasting your fucking time.

btw don't say AI art. say AI images. don't say AI articles or books, say AI text. haven't figured out what to substitute for AI code, but maybe AI technical debt works lmao

Who the fuck is in charge of LaunchBox's metadata? I'm seeing some games get Al generated covers. This is such an insult to the these historic games.

Next Fest is really demonstrating the curse of the idea guy. Anyone can have an idea or steal one, but to make it good means living with it, working it, exploring it and finding what makes it work and is special. Or you can just have Claude shit out slop no one wants to play. Valve always needs

I will die on the hill that slop is actually the anti-future. It is the death of culture. And for some of the billionaires out there, this is the unspoken motivation.

Last I'll post about this, but Elon Musk disagrees with me. This means I am onto something, and I feel more valid in my opinion than ever.

But what is Tim and Elon's argument? What points do they raise? What insight do they offer? None... because Tim spends all day talking to LLMs he doesn't provide an argument or counter-point - he tells Kenney how to think. Think like me - he is trying to correct an LLM not speak to a human.

Epic Timmy throwing a jab at Gabe in their vibe-coded launcher announcement for buying a yacht (which he bought to house scientists who do marine biology research) maybe he should have invested more money in earth-destroying gen Al instead

Chet Faliszek@chetsucks.com

This still is the funniest part of the Epic announcement... ignoring the jab at gabe but comparing their feature light early project as loading faster than steam! Tim might have wanted to keep some engineers around that could explain why this comparison isn't the big stab they should lead with...

Poor Tim doesn't realize the reason he isn't liked as much as Gabe can be found, ironically enough, within the yacht itself.

Oh boy let me tell you about those colleges and other academic institutions too, who were already burnt by Unity a few years ago and were considering or actually moved to Unreal afterwards. Students literally waiting for Godot (sorry, sorry.. I'll show myself out)

This post is unavailable.

Ultimately, I guess I should be thankful my feelings of dread and anxiety are caused by what is and has been and not by if and what could have been

I think that the fact students are using AI to cheat at school is bringing into focus one of the problems I have with school to begin with: teaching students they have to work under high pressure, rather than teaching them how to simply do it and have patience on it

According to MIT News, Margaret Hamilton died at the age of 90. "A profoundly influential computer scientist best known for leading the software engineering team at MIT’s Instrumentation Lab during NASA’s Apollo program". This famous photo 🔽 inspired the For All Mankind character Margo Madison.

ah damn, RIP Margaret Hamilton. she took safety-critical software engineering seriously, and got people to the moon and back. news.mit.edu/2026/margare...

i cant trust video game fanmade remasters and translations and mods at face value anymore and im so tired of being unable to trust these there are a lot of technical advancements like suddenly there being hacks for old video games we didnt expect, yet the first thing i feel is not respect, but doubt

I hate 16:9 so, so much. I don't want to make my next game in that aspect ratio. I hate framing scenes and designing levels for it.

Pi0h1 reposted

all vibe-coded ports look and feel like shit because theyre made by people without the experience or passion to pay attention to the small details these projects are like a disease to the reverse engineering community and must be rejected at all costs if we want to maintain a standard of quality

It's been over 20 years since I was in school, but I am still firm in my "no homework" stance. Kids are also training to be semi-pro athletes and musicians and/or have PT shit jobs that don't care about their academic health. Homework teaches poor boundaries and that success means no social life.

fun thing they dont tell about making a game is when you finish making a game 90% of the acid reflux you developed while making the game just instantly clears up

these teams have long running institutional knowledge of the franchises they work on and don’t make every new installment with a team of underpaid juniors being bossed around by clueless suits

y'all ever think about how people like to be so adamant that games are art and then now we're finding out that like 90% of them don't think coding counts as part of the artistic process (so it's fine to use ai) you know the part of the process in which you make a game

Oh, I just found a treasure trove! :D Cruel Games, a game store/locadora de jogos/internet café that has been open since 1994 in Paraná, Brazil... and has photos of all those years! 30 years of people paying per hour to play games, do events, parties & tournaments, from the SNES to modern consoles

im so excited about the direction videogames are going in!!!

this is the inevitable result of years of games focused entirely on fidelity and players being afraid to miss things or fail so now we get games that are the equivalent of a dog thats been bred to emphasize all its cutest traits but now it can barely breathe or move around and u just feel bad for it
