People abroad don't understand the level of interference Meta & bots had in these elections. 5 days before the election a far-right politician posted a fake news video that got 157 MILLION views on Instagram in 24hs. For reference, GTA 6's reveal trailer got 90 million views on YouTube in 24hs.

My heart & mind are consumed by Brazil's elections, but a quick pause to pay respects to BioWare. Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 and Neverwinter Nights are pillars of CRPGs, extremely formative games. KotOR, Mass Effect & Dragon Age redefined RPGs for the modern era. Fuck EA, the people there deserve better.

I keep thinking about the massive impact BioWare had in the CRPG world... Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale 1 & 2, KotOR 2, The Witcher 1 and NWN2 run on tech from BioWare. NWN1 was the birthplace of countless game designers. Love for "Infinity Engine-like" RPGs fueled the Kickstarter CRPG revival.

Resharing this because it's such a formative memory... To most people BioWare means Mass Effect / Dragon Age, but NWN was revolutionary - the "Western RPG Maker". It's the only entry on the CRPG Book with 4 pages, because 2 are just about its Aurora Toolset. Hell, we have The Witcher because of it!

I like how these games are breaking out of Roblox & mobile into the same stores & platforms as "core" / AAA gaming. AAA games are often stale products that claim relevance simply for being the biggest games around, but this makes it clear that no, they aren't - not even in their home turf.

Why do we keep on doing this? Praising a 'small core team' for a game with 1100+ people in the credits is incredibly misleading. This PR narrative hurts, hides the massive shadow workforce of outsourced developers and testers, and sets impossible standards for actual indie teams.
