I broke a 100 followers so maybe it's time to introduce myself! Hi Bluesky, I'm Joram Wolters, I'm a independent game designer and artist from Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

I've been putting off divesting from Miro because so much of my stuff is in there, but they keep shoving more and more AI features in my face so I'm going to start migrating to a self hosted solution

First five TTRPG's in the order I played them: 1. Deathwatch 2. D20 Modern 3. D&D 3.5e 4. D&D 4e 5. Pathfinder

This post is unavailable.

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

Should be 18+ imo, that's the legal age for gambling. Mechanics like these completely drain teen minds of normal reward responses, to the point where I get students who don't even get why you'd play a game that doesn't reward you with item progression

Games with loot boxes and gachas will now automatically receive 16 age ratings from European ratings board PEGI. The change is also applied retroactively to digital games. (Read more at Pocket Gamer)

Unity once again throwing what little goodwill they might have had whole-heartedly into the bin

Chris Kerr@kerrblimey.bsky.social

NEW: Unity is automatically opting Asset Store creators into supporting its generative AI platform, Unity Spark, via a process called 'itemisation.' One dev told me the process should be "opt-in instead of opt-out" and said they are firmly against genAI. www.verticalslice.news/unity-opting...

Making some process on Captain Armory, my players actually fought and defeated him this session! When the illustration is done I'll roll up his stats and abilities in a sheet for people to use in their home games #dnd5e #ttrpg

Owen worked on Flock, and helped us out with a bunch of the more complex UI issues in the run up to launch. He's good - do reach out if you're looking for an experienced UE programmer.

This is a good list, I usually lead with "All of genAI was born from crime with the specific intention of harming (creative) labourers, no increase in output quality or efficiency will ever solve it's ethics."

Jochem Kuijpers 🎃@jchmoe.bsky.social

I woke up, and want to clarify: Note that none of my arguments were - AI output is ugly/I can always tell - AI can't do my job well - AI looks different from human output These are not sustainable arguments. As AI evolves they will likely erode. That's why I wrote a huge list of DURABLE arguments:

It doesn't help that everyone involved with building (parts of) this tech stack seems wholly disinterested in solving it's ethics, and have explicitly stated their bad ethics repeatedly. It's all crime all the way down, and no moral person should want to have anything to do with it.

Carving out a small exception here for friends who work in tech and feel forced to take jobs that heavily involve genAI because that's where all the money has been going for the past couple of years.

Yet again, the Game UI Database is being scraped to the point that it's getting knocked offline. Even Cloudflare's "I'm under attack" mode isn't working. I just wanted to create a resource for real designers. I'm getting so fucking sick of this.

I'm turning a couple of my favourite sketches into slightly more rendered item cards, they'll be system agnostic and don't sport any specific rules, just descriptions and vibes.

Having a lot of fun with #swordtember this year, keeping the renders very loose for sake of time but there's some fun ones in there I might render out later!

I'm a rebel; anyone in the public feel free to trade me whenever you see me on the street.

if you’re a games company that wants to survive it has been proven over and over again you need to do whatever it takes to stay away from being publicly traded. you’ll be turned into wood chips the moment it’s convenient.

Hey friends! I'm probably gonna have some extra time for design freelance work (or more?). My career: - LD at Arkane Lyon for almost 8 years Dishonored IP, DEATHLOOP, Marvel's Blade. - LD at Crytek for 2 years Crysis 4, HUNT: SHOWDOWN. - Shipped THRESHOLD as a solo dev.

If you pay me I'll enroll in your school, attend all your classes and tell you all the shit students are complaining about and how to fix it.
