i’ve been working with claude on a 3d replica of philip johnson’s glass house for my personal website, fleetingbits.io, and i’ve turned a lot of the site’s features into locations on the property.

I don't think I'd want it. Per them, it's a return to centralized version control servers, ala Subversion. They might have a reason for that model, but I don't.
Claude helped Anthropic outgrow its Git infrastructure — and build the replacement. But the company says Scion is too specialized to release for other teams.

I had such a stark realization about this when I started working at Meta and the mean was ~never used while looking at data. Everything was about percentiles: p50 (median), p75, p99, p99.9 etc
"Median is not useful in such a skewed data set as 350,000,000 people whose incomes range from zero to one hundred thirty two billion dollars. " Yes it is - I'd argue that median is precisely what you should be using in skewed data.

I think it’s important for anyone who (completely understandably) checked out on AI the second the crypto/nft/metaverse/snake oil chuds started pushing it to realize that, in at least the domain of software development, we are very much living in a scenario where the snake oil actually works
personally think if the line is going to be “no gen ai in anything” then the you might have to consider divesting from AAA games entirely because this is just what the industry is now, whether they admit it so publicly or not

Announcing RimWorld update 1.7! It moves the game from Unity to Waylith, our in-house engine, and runs 2-4x faster in our tests. Try it now on the unstable beta. Oh, and RimWorld isn’t the only game on Waylith... Read on Steam: store.steampowered.com/news/app/294100/view/672882362547178633

Some important stuff here
I spoke to @washingtonpost.com about how dads can teach their sons nonviolence. “When we’re talking about fathers in particular, they can lead by example. Your kids watch you… Continuing to learn about gender inequality, continuing to hold yourself to a higher standard — that’s a lifelong process.”

This is one reason why you shouldn’t upload work into LLMs during the peer review and grading processes. That work is confidential, and you have no right to share it without permission. You are taking someone’s intellectual property and giving it to the entire world without their consent.
“This recent dump of papers on Tuesday destroyed the careers of early-career mathematicians. We've had whole research programs wiped out on Tuesday by their dump … they have all the mathematicians research programs in their training data” - Tristan Buckmaster on OpenAI solving unsolved math problems

OpenAI just blooped hundreds of proofs and counterexamples to open problems: github.com/openai/math/... Boggling.
I can't believe this has to be explained. If you sell a memory stick or a SSD or a hard drive or storage in general: K=1000. If you use storage or memory: K=1024. If you use a certain generation of intel processor: K=1023.99999999.
I need to decide if 1KB means 1,000 bytes or 1,024 bytes in all of my software I was leaning 1,024 but it looks like macOS and Windows both define KB as 1,000 these days I want whatever people are most likely to understand (I do not think most people know what KiB or MiB means)

Anthropic may not have intended to write an excellent ad for GLM 5.3, but that's what they did. www.anthropic.com/research/glm... Unlike Mythos, I might actually have a chance at using GLM for defensive research. Anthropic didn't reply to any of my requests for Mythos access for use on OpenSSH.

Nauseating stuff, and even more so knowing that the rapists might get away with it
CW: Rape. "Not all men." (Thread.) Seven Cornell men gang-raped a fellow student for hours, but none of the men in their group chat with its invitation of "free p*ssy" stopped them or came forward after. This article is graphic because it's detailed in what happened:
