"AI will destroy humanity" has always and only been an attempt to distract from "AI will leak your login credentials to the internet"

Three weeks ago AI founders were all over the press making vague but portentous comments about the existential risks and power of their models. This week their models are part of a widespread security failure around critical systems such as your bank account..a more immediate and serious risk 1/

genAI boosters are always like “you think you’re better than me because you drew a picture? You think you’re better than me because you read a book?” and it’s like, well, no, but you seem very unhappy

Pretty good for my first time trying CodePen AI today! 💻✨ Built a Side Quest Adoption Center—because apparently having too many ideas means I should create a website to adopt more. #CodePen #WebDev

I built a fun little Chrome extension that lets plants invade your abandoned tabs the longer you leave them unread. To access them again, you have to slash through the vines 🪚🌿

ky's approach here is based, and during my time at different agencies I developed a similar strat. write code, not too much, mostly html. henry.codes/writing/how-...

building a new website and I'm enjoying taking a content-first approach to building. at first, write as little CSS as possible; rely on browser defaults for almost everything. focus on the content. only move onto styling once you have a site that is semantic, accessible, and performant.

Just want to emphasize: this is entirely built with CSS scroll snapping and view timelines – no JS gesture handling or animations. This means we get high frame rate fluid momentum and elastic physics matching the platform for free. It feels native because it really is – modern CSS is pretty amazing.

Your AI hacked other rival groups? Cool, you are legally responsible. Your AI produced CSAM? Cool, you and the person requesting it are legally responsible.

Appreciate the people crunching numbers on this. The outrage over personal LLM energy usage seems overblown. Especially for the number of queries most of us run (<1000 / month?) Picking any other climate soap box is a better use of outrage: driving cars, eating meat, green energy providers, etc.

In 2026 I want all of the decent people to remember one thing. You aren’t meant to be this disciplined, this self-sacrificing to survive. The environment is supposed to support good living. We can have that. You are not a failure. That is politics. That is all.

Friendly reminder that “remote work” and “work from home” are not synonyms! You *can* work from home as a remote worker, but you don’t have to. Remote work is all about picking the right work environment for you. Might be a coffee shop, a home office, a library, or a rented office!

Agreed! So many of the technical blog posts I see have random stock photos or AI-generated images, and it sorta makes the whole blog feel generic and cheap. You don’t need a cover image. My blog doesn’t use cover images.

It's not about public opinion. When was that last time Google did something popular? No, it's just about making trump happy so they can get tax cuts and kickbacks. It's a show specifically for him and no one else.
