Post

Our tax dollars paid for a fat shaming add from Mike Tyson that told us not to eat processed food, but also don't eat food that costs a lot, like chicken.

Oh my, have you heard the POOOOOORSSS are INDULGING in tasty food rather than gruel?!?! Have you ever heard such an outrage?!?! Jeaves, Jeaves, fetch my Orphan Beating Stick!!

20- and 30-somethings getting a small slice of joy out of eating *checks notes* slightly higher end rotisserie chicken than what Walmart offers. Wow what a journalistic reveal. I wish I could hope that journalists (or more probably, editors) would connect the dots with falling birth rates but

Um can we have actual grocery stores that look like this now everywhere. I don't care if the stuff is all fake wood. I love the old timey craftsman look.

This is on the same level of stupidity as when wealthy people criticize the working class for buying a new TV Because rich people inherently believe that the poor and working class shouldn’t have even tiny instances of joy, that everything should be suffering for us What a garbage article

Hey guys, the statement you're trying to make here was stupid when you said it was avocado toast and it was stupid when you said it was iced coffee. You really don't have to keep saying dumb shit like this

imo it is truly corporate media as created through ideals/agenda of among worst dolts on the planet which is, more than anything, making people SICKER and POORER. the "luxury" of rotissarie chicken!? and this as literally as studies show how the poor have to buy lower quality food. absolutely F WSJ!

Went from "a chicken in every pot" to "dear me, I say, the poors sometimes have chicken in their pots! That's why they are poors I suppose" *adjusts monicle as a sign of how smart they are*

Worst thing is, if we eat less meat, we'll hear "millennials are killing the meat industry!" Like they said about fabric softener (con) and diamonds (ugly) and so on.

"Save money! Avoid takeaways! Bring your own lunch!" Bitch, workers have been eating street food for thousands of years! You think the guys who carved the blocks for the pyramids of Giza brought their lunch from home? It's only becoming a problem now because LABOUR DOESN'T PAY!

Poor people considering their own health? We can't have that, I guess? I really wish you guys could maybe take a step back from self-parody levels of quisling bullshit, but I guess you wouldn't be the WSJ without fellating nazis.

Rotisserie chickens are famously one of the cheapest kinds of pre-prepared protein. They are usually old chickens, often laying hens, whose meat has gotten tough from a hard life. That’s why they are injected with brine and cooked for hours. That’s not a luxury, it’s literally poverty food.

I hope we don’t overlook outlets like the WSJ when the barricades of freedom get lit or whatever. What I’m saying is, there’s room in the stockade for people who write articles like this, right alongside people like Stephen Miller.

"Are the boomers ruining music?" "Is Gen X ruining television?" "Are millennials ruining the housing market?" "Is Gen Z ruining the luxury grocery market?" are we still fucking doing this. genuinely how does this pablum keep getting made

They would just as quickly spin the exact same article with "McDonald's and soda". Shit journalism never changes. They probably have 1000 articles ready to post with madlibs style blanks to populate with whatever bullshit.

I believe the WSJ has already written about how the malignant scourge of millennials already killed all of those in the name of consuming coffee and avocado on toast. Now we find their campaign of villainy extends all the way to drinking juice and rotisserie chicken!!!

At risk of being banned, I will say that whoever wrote this deserves to have their ass beaten. Nothing gratuitous, just an old-fashioned ass beating. Flush their heads in a toilet and lock them inside a utility closet for a bit afterwards.

im already chewing cinnamon sticks to quit smoking and thinking about how clean farm-raised insects for food would be the protein of the future

“Splurging” on rotisserie chicken? I’m using the meat in stews, soups, casseroles, enchiladas — I can stretch a $7 chicken to 12 portions in combination with grains, legumes, and veg. And I’m using the bones for stock. Last week I used 2 chicken breasts in a pot of lentil soup that lasted four days.

Gen Zers and millenials attract enemy radar. They attract sharks. They insist on being placed at the Captain's Table. They get up late, they nudge people whilst they're shooting. They muck about.

So, whoever wrote this is saying that it is Gen Zerrs who are at fault for not being able to buy homes? I think you should have made that sentiment more explicitly, if it is indeed what you meant. Very poor writing. Should have got into debt to learn better. Tsk tsk.

It always should be, it’s the chickens the store didn’t sell in time, priced lower than the whole fresh chicken.

We’re not buying them at Erewhon you dorks. They’re $5 at Costco and you can get a full meal of chicken for a family of four and make stock with the leftovers. That’s not luxury, that’s good sense.

OMG, young poor people tried to be healthy and not die! What next? 'Neanderthals couldn't afford a mortgage but enjoyed spit-roasted feasts'? Fuck off with your ageist bullshit, you hacks. The lack of real journalism in the world has contributed to it being so shit.

Absolute constant scolding when the economic data is so clear. Every merit raise I’ve ever earned has not kept up with cost of living. Since my first minimum wage job at 5 something an hour. To today when the economy is blown up AGAIN by concentration of wealth and lack of regulation.

Yes!! 😂🤣😂 But on a broader note, a friend & I have noticed a trend or a pipeline, if you will: wellness to the alt-right. Watch it to see if you see it. It’s that pure eating, pure living, alternate health shit. The undertones are there. I’ll try 2 post articles.

Rotisserie chicken is an indulgence now? That’s what you get when you only have a few dollars for a week. This is just avocado toast all over again.

Rotisserie chickens are one of the cheapest available cooked meals. Five bucks at Sam's Club and there's usually a line waiting for the next batch. What are you even talking about?

bold of you to post this from your ivory tower behind a paywall us millennials and gen zers can’t afford because we’re trying to save money for *checks notes* food.

You may only have water and moldy bread, otherwise WSJ will write another article in 3 years about how Gen Z is splurging on .99 dented cans of tuna.

Yes. Eating healthy is expensive, but that’s actually a different discussion altogether. It’s not so expensive, however, that it actually affects the ability to buy a house. Any journalist who attempts to connect the cost of eating healthier with the inability to afford a house is a propagandist.

Splurging on Rotisserie chicken? The amount of time needed to make a chicken at home and the materials vs bringing home. A rotisserie means the better economic choice is bringing it in. Plus, at Costco they're still $5

No, the better choice is buying and cooking a whole chicken. Chicken is the cheapest protein, it costs less to cook it yourself. And a whole home cooked chicken lasts a single person five to seven days, which is longer than a dried out store bought rotisserie.
