for my friends in Western Washington, remember that the phone number for the Seattle chapter of the National Lawyers' Guild is 206-OK-TRY-ME
Last year today was one of the scariest days of my life. We initially called a lawyer who wanted to work with feds to arrange a perp walk. Kat told that guy to fuck himself. Thank God for the National Lawyer's Guild, who Kat called right after. They were ready to fight the bullshit on zero notice.

Add to cart: 1 This intersection paint job. 1 This traffic signal priority scheme. And oh what the hell, 1 That building.
And the freaking greatest thing I have ever seen: this intersection has a traffic signal that is set by DEFAULT for pedestrians and cyclists, cars have to activate to cross. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
the thing that puzzles me is that, even ignoring the rarity of it, detransition is not that hard. if you haven't had surgery, you just stop taking your meds. you don't need a clinic for that. which begs the question: is this a clinic to be sought out, or does it exist to be sent to unwillingly?

If you care about fighting climate change, salvaging the Amazon rainforest and maintaining its capacity to positively influence Earth's weather systems, it's difficult to overstate just how significant a bullet the planet just dodged.

This drives me CRAZY. I grew up playing sports w/ boys. I played on a U12 boys select soccer team, b4 switching to a U12 girls team that kept beating us. Nobody had any issue with any of it. Youth sports have never had the strict sex/gender boundaries that “XX-XY” activists are now trying to defend.
I live in a rural town and, like, I don't know how to tell you this, but the girls play on the boys team and vice versa all the time because otherwise we don't have enough players for a game and it's literally always fine so stop being weirdos about kids sports and just let trans kids play.

The only reason e-biking isn't the fastest way around South Seattle is that Rainier ave and MLK Jr Way S are unsafe to bike on, so you have to go super roundabout back ways that have absurd hills.
This is right in Seattle to. There is simply no faster way around central Seattle anywhere near rush hour than an ebike.

Democratic candidates doing anti-trans signaling is so baffling because even your voters who aren't naturally pro-trans are going to notice that all the people who are vocally *anti*-trans are also anti-Everything Someone Normal Who Votes Democrat Could Possibly Care About
found out that my mother in law decided she was aggressively pro trans rights literally by going, I don't know anything about this but everyone who is against trans rights is also against free school lunch, the issue I know and care a lot about, so this must be the correct way to feel about this

What the Attorney General of the United States seems to not understand, but the people who matter do, is that Congress hasn’t given DOJ any authority to block states from certifying the election. This isn’t a thing. And we don’t have to pretend it’s a thing just because he says it’s a thing.
🚨🚨🚨 Q: Is there any scenario in which DOJ would try to block states from certifying the election? AG TODD BLANCHE: Yes, of course. It is not DOJ's intention to improperly interfere with elections or the state certification process, but ...

We've needed a homegrown English-language equivalent to the Dutch "Stop de Kindermoord" for a while now and I think "Get Home Safe" is it. Say it sincerely to friends or sarcastically to enemies, it's got powerful "Bless your heart" energy.
I also think "Get Home Safe" could become a mainstay chant for bike safety protests going forward. It's such a basic message. It reminds everyone of home and the people we love who live there, and how getting to them is more important than any of this "cars vs bikes" wedge issue road rage bullshit.

*checking my phone and seeing a picture of a leaking pressurized line* It's True
Someone once told me (in the context of physical engineering) that everything leaks and it's all breaking all the time. It requires constant effort by countless professionals just to maintain the status quo. I think about that a lot, and it's even more true in the context of adversarial actors

The challenge is not to mimic Republicans' politics of information war through deliberately misleading and caustic memes and defamations, while still effectively using the available tools to fight back and win. As El-Sayed recognizes that is a challenge, but one that must be met.
AES: "Everybody tells me how it's a big risk to be taking Qs down the stretch. 'Why don't you just give your speech and walk off the stage?' Because I believe people deserve the right to ask Qs. Sometimes it's going to be bad faith R plants, most often it's good faith folks who just want an answer."
