I just want to name that people overcame this. Even against a stacked deck, the good fight is worth it. Win or lose, it's worth it. And sometimes the good guys win.

Bolsonaro-friendly mayors appear to be sabotaging public transport on Election Day. Buses aren’t running in Lula-friendly areas, flights and ferries mysteriously canceled. Traffic lights have gone out and people’s power cut in Salvador, indigenous people’s travel restricted

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

If you have Steam, you’re looking for a fun demo, and you love musical rhythm games, the one for Mr. Records is pretty great. Played it all the way through, and was sad when it was over.

I mostly see movies by myself, which is perfectly fine by me. But I watched You Can See Everything today, and that is precisely the kind of movie I want to talk about with someone immediately for a few hours.

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

There will never be a cooler character than Garrus Vakarian in the Mass Effect series. He was a stand-out, one-of-a-kind dude in a series of outstanding characters from a studio that specialized in giving us magic. RIP, BioWare. Thanks for the good times and the memories. Thanks for Garrus!

Part of my literal job is to fly out to physical game studios to rescue and recover historical materials that might be endangered and put them in a permanent archive. @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social is a 501(c)3 publicly funded to do that, my DMs are open, and I'm free for the next couple weeks...

BioWare closing rings the same hollow bell in my soul as WB and Paramount becoming “Skydance.” Across movies, TV, publishing, games, we’re watching decades of legacy and history being hijacked and fed to the furnace of an abyssal engine with no desire beyond the abstract concept of “More.”

This has been the fundamental mechanism through which political media operates my entire life. The right makes a bunch of noise about a fake scandal, the mainstream media "covers the controversy," & normie voters get the vague impression that Dems are constantly involved in scandal.

Greg Sargent@gregsargent.bsky.social

This awful saga is a good glimpse into how MAGA gets propaganda laundered into mainstream discourse by making just enough noise to get news outlets to treat their outrage as a "controversy," which then requires even-handed treatement of both sides' stances: newrepublic.com/article/2168...

The thing to understand about James Carville is that nearly 40 years ago he served as water boy for a star quarterback. Based on that job and that job only he has spent decades insisting he knows how to win Super Bowls. At best he knows how to fetch Bill Clinton’s water.

Now is the time to care about everyone, not “once we win” The time to care about everyone is always always always now

Unfortunately there are people who care about trans people having rights who are not trans people themselves and I’m sure that the number will suddenly grow exponentially post election when candidates have lost and you’re looking for someone to blame that isn’t the candidates themselves

hyou've got this twisted. we haven't been screaming for more rights, we're having our existing rights taken away and lived through American society become increasingly hostile to us. by letting republicans set the terms of the debate you're giving them a wedge to take away your rights, too.

blessedhawk70.bsky.social@blessedhawk70.bsky.social

For another, the cishet supermajority of Americans are just apathetic about them at best and ambivialent about them at worst. When the overriding issue is material conditions, trans rights unfortunately tends to take a backseat.

There are so, so many verified diaries of white Union soldiers at the beginning of the war saying "I don't know about this, I condemn the deplorable violence" and then they get down there and see slavery with their own eyes and immediately go "John Brown was right we gotta kill these motherfuckers"

Erik Loomis@erikloomis.bsky.social

And we can certainly condemn his violence. But let’s step back and remember just how horrible slavery was. On December 20, 1858, Brown, who had briefly returned to Kansas, led a party into Missouri to free slaves.

We did this already & it failed. Centrist Dems & the Biden admin had the power to prevent a 2nd Trump presidency. Instead they helped usher it in. Those people were elected because we set aside purity politics and “voted blue no matter who.” So, no. Tell those Dems to move to the left, or go away.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Look at the shabby state and increasingly authoritarian trajectory of the country and ask yourself if we can endure 2 more years of a lawless Trump administration wreaking havoc with no check from Congress, then vote accordingly. This is not the time for a protest vote or purity politics.

Our internet, how we get all of our information, now has banned using the word "sex" without writing it like "s*x" but our kids are being inundated with people falling off rollercoasters, being mauled by Tigers, and jumping off buildings. It creates a culture afraid of people but in love with death.

They want to dehumanize you. They want you to hate like they hate. They want you as soulless and heartless as they are. Cause light, love, unity, and peace are the things they fear most of all, and they’ll use any tactic to stamp them out. Don’t let them. Oppose them. Resist them.
