🧵Gen #AI companies are #McKinsey on digital meth. Consultants are brought in to absorb blame, to justify unpopular decisions that management wanted to make anyway, to extract money that could have otherwise gone to workers.

I don't know if this is an example of the right's epistemic closure crisis or their inability to grok humor at any level but the thing that makes Obama's joke work isn't "Cheesecake Factory," it's "Saddam Hussein."

Cheesecake Factory is only there because most of us have heard of it. Obviously if you gave Trump the chance to vulgar up a restaurant's decor he'd pick a Cipriani.

Last year today was one of the scariest days of my life. We initially called a lawyer who wanted to work with feds to arrange a perp walk. Kat told that guy to fuck himself. Thank God for the National Lawyer's Guild, who Kat called right after. They were ready to fight the bullshit on zero notice.

"The votes aren't there" is cowardice masked as savviness. There has to be accountability for their crimes. The House has a duty to make the case here and if some GOP senators want to weasel out, make them own that vote. Don't let pundits and "strategists" talk you out of doing your damn job.

Kamala Harris: I think that going in the direction of impeachment is not a good idea. I was in the Senate for the last go-round, and the votes aren’t there. I think after the election, we all have to just also agree that our attitude has to be to get stuff done…

Politics is the art of forcing the votes "there." You do that by ratcheting up the pressure through relentless accountability.

You don’t get to accomplish anything good in the next two years. You need to be clear-eyed about that up front. It’s not on the table, and harboring the delusion that it is will only do harm. All you get to do until 2028 is block evil. That needs to be your singular goal.

Abandon any fantasies about an affirmative legislative agenda. None of that is happening. You get to throw a wrench in the gears of a fascist meat-grinder. That’s it. Pretending you can do anything else is just turning the crank on the grinder.

As discussed in the linked article, there are lots of factors that probably contribute to this spike, including more kids being out at night, dark costumes, masks that might limit vision or hearing. But pedestrian deaths are always tragic and preventable, and driver awareness is key.
