Didn’t Yglesias write that op-ed where he said it was totally fine if thousands of Bangladeshi factory workers were murdered via criminal negligence because different countries have different labor laws and that’s fine

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.

VOTE FOR ADRIANA!!!

Adriana Valencia for AC Transit Ward 3 2026@valencia4actransit.bsky.social

I'm in the @oaklandreviewofbooks.org's* Voting Guide! (tl;dr: they say you should vote for me) www.oaklandreviewofbooks.org/voting-guide... *super-torn about whether or not that should just be an apostrophe (because "books") or apostrophe-s (because .org)

I can't believe that any functioning adults are seriously considering "What if we COVID'ed ourselves by blowing up public transit, instead of paying a 1/2 cent sales tax?" (around $5-8 per resident each month, on average).

Related: I’m still looking for leads and help on jobs, fellowships, and freelance contracts on drones, GIS, aid, disaster, OSINT, tech ethics, and journalism. I simply will not work for evil people and/or weapons manufacturers, which is also why I haven’t had paying work since Trump 2.0 began.

Drone tech has so many incredible applications for so many industries and if you want to make any sort of living you have to work for an illiterate Nazi pervert dweeb who collects erotic anime figurines.

I believe the same thing happened when the NYPD went on strike as well, less cops doing cop shit and the crime went down, it just keeps happening!

extremely funny that violent crime in Oakland is at historic lows while Oakland PD is also having an historic staffing crisis. almost like we should,,, abolish the police perhaps???

doubly funny that OPD credits Flock and then is like “yeah actually it’s probably the city sponsored non police violence prevention program”

every trans space for the two weeks leading up to the election is like, "you remembered to vote, right???" and then discussing the nuances of like, state court judge candidates for two hours

okay well the initiation fee is $3,100 and not the $200 membership dues I had imagined so uhhh maybe not lol

also objectively think it would be a fun Cara fact to say I’m in SAG, sometimes you do something for the story

question for actors that follow me: I had a speaking role in a SAG covered short film; I am technically eligible to join SAG as a result. is it worth it, as someone who wants to get more into acting? I have to imagine it will always be more of a hobby for me, but I do want to act more.

every time I’m in Alameda, which is very often, I think about his delivery in Star Trek IV asking the cop where they keep “the nuclear vessels”

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

how did this go six months ago? let’s check the replay

The Iranian regime could ultimately fall if a devastating direct strike on its leadership is paired with military measures never used before. Past operations already set a precedent for this kind of strike.

i will straight up stop going to a small theater if they call it Hausu lmfao, like, beyond just being weirdly racist it shows such a lack of knowledge of the films you're showing

I can’t believe two good things happened today, it’s literally been years since two good things happened on the same day

everyone is freaking the fuck out right now and going wild etc etc because two good things have happened in the same day and that’s unprecedented for the last few years

I too would yell “holy shit!” in the background of the tape, barely audible, if I was a musician in the room when that was recorded

Virtual Hydlide was *not* a pack in game on the Sega Saturn but it *was* the game that was left in my Sega Saturn’s CD-ROM drive when I got it at a garage sale for $7 in 2008

I saw a Dornier 328JET parked at Denver International the other day and it was such a weird little guy I had to learn all about it? evidently the company got bought by another company which eventually itself got bought by an Israeli arms manufacturer, which is a BUMMER, but what a neat lil plane

it's so cool when good things actually happen, especially when it can sometimes feel like that's barely possible anymore

if Vucic and Bolsonaro lose on the same day it would be so funny god pleaseeee

Lula winning is great for the planet, great for Brazil, and great for people who aren't revanchist assholes everywhere in the world, but let's not forget that it's also going to make some of the worst people on Earth extremely sad and mad. We should enjoy that, as a little treat.

Reports are saying Jair Bolsonaro had already purchased a customized matching hospital bed for his beloved son Flavio to spend election night in alongside him. “It works both ways. Victory or defeat. Either way, I know where I want to be.”
