After all the drama abt this “new ad” Cenk Uyghur’s group was dropping in Michigan and how it was tied to Netanyahu starting Iran War … he just grabbed & tried to get more mileage from an ad he made for his failed 2024 prez run when he was blaming egg prices on Israel. See the date of the tweet.

This report has a lot more information than that one less-than-credible accusations against Trump. If people read (I know, it's an impossible ask), you'll see there are three more I would deem extremely well-evidenced and credible.

This report is genuinely overwhelming, in terms of the evidence both against Trump and of a ham-fisted cover-up. Including one instance in which Ghislaine Maxwell was actually about to mention one of Trump's young accusers and Todd Blanche told her to stop talking. The media response is "yawn."

If this happens it could actually be a twofer: 1) help her win and help the normie wing of DSA and 2) further discredit the freak show national DSA.

For the fabulously wealthy, paying taxes is pretty much optional. They can borrow against their vast wealth, which is mostly an untaxed capital gain, without paying taxes. When they die, the capital gain goes to zero. And loopholes exist to bypass the estate tax too.

Since I’ve engaged in a few exchanges about this. Let me say a few things about this. First of all this genuinely happens a lot. And it goes back decades. Another commenter reminded of a case back in 2004. I think there’s a key dynamic involved.

I dont know if it's because they love republicans and want them to win but holy crap is this an embarrassment. the equivalent of reckless disregard in terms of journalism fuck ups. Just the simplest damn googling.

5/ In any case, the incentives are there and yet there seems to be very little awareness of this or effort to guard against it. Perhaps I’m naive and the idea is well this is one point of view it doesn’t matter if the person is a professional GOP operative or Trump aligned lobbyist.

6/ If that’s the case, at least disclosure is required. But my sense is they’re mainly easy marks, perhaps because of obvious but unexplored biases.

3/ average person Fred or Lorraine in the New York Times and spouting a Republican message is golden because it’s the New York Times. And especially today, even more than 30 years ago - because the Times is paradoxically more influential now - it’s even more golden. So basically there are …

4/ going to be lots of professional Republicans, GOP think tankers, lobbyists etc presenting themselves as average Joes to be profiled in the Times. My point here is simply that there’s like a 100 times more incentive to do this with the Times than with any other publication. It’s not exaggeration.

2/ When I first thought of this I thought to say something like, one of our reporters wld have a lot to answer for for a goof that better. We simply don’t make those kinds of mistakes. But the real point is that there’s no big payoff for the bamboozler. The key here is that appearing as …

wow -- a squirming Mike Rogers gets flustered as Kristen Welker points out that while he attacks El-Sayed over the Muslim Brotherhood, *Rogers himself* defended the Muslim Brotherhood during the same period of time that El-Sayed did!

WELKER: Is a vote for you a vote for the Trump agenda? MIKE ROGERS: Um, I'm apologizing. I'm having some difficultly in my earpiece. But is a vote for you? I'm not sure. I'll tell you what a vote for me is. It's a great day for the state of Michigan

Put this under nature of the problem. From an axios piece by Jim Vendehei about the growing multiple risks of cascading crises. You’d say the same about Biden? Not politics? lol

Trump wanted to create an Orban style autocracy & take away everyone’s liberties. But Orban knew u need to be popular when u put that into effect. But in just 20 months Trump failed so hard he’s more unpopular than any midterm Prez in 80 yrs. Chump just doesn’t have the cards. 🤣

we're going to need a long-term plan, with broad political appeal, for ending impunity & holding the trump administration accountable for its crimes, malfeasance & cruelties. not 'tit-for-tat' but an american version of transitional justice. my take in @slate.com 👇

A lot of dictatorships try to make these kind of arrangements when things go south. Important to remember there are other kinds of criminal, civil and reputational accountability pardons can’t touch. And if you’re pardoned you have no 5th amendment rights.

Holly Brewer@earlymodjustice.bsky.social

“Several conservative organizations …— including the Heritage Foundation and American Moment — have pressed White House counsel to either prepare pardons or put in place funding for the legal fees necessary to defend junior staffers from criminal and congressional probes or potential lawsuits.”
