for as long as I've been in the game industry - and probably well before - one of the greatest barriers to development has been men in leadership positions who don't know what they want and can't articulate it to the people they're in charge of

I appreciate the bar is quite low but this excerpt from an interview with Molyneux about AI is almost too on the nose. Nice anecdote about a colleague he used to respect and enjoy working with, followed by an explanation of how him and everyone like him is now expendable.

The dig against Travis Knight is that he's a nepo baby son of a billionaire whose (expensive) stop-motion movies only get made because his dad funds them, but if we MUST have billionaires, I'd rather they fund weird, beautiful art that only exists because they do so than basically anything else.

Encouraging thoughts/feedback/corrections — so please read and amplify 👍 Would like to get a bit more college hoops on the Bluesky timeline when the games get going next week. I know there's a small but eager faction of ball knowers checking in on this app daily.

It's never been more difficult to forecast a season than now, with an unending string of court cases affecting dozens of teams across CBB. You think that stopped me from writing 101 capsules and building out the most accurate preseason ranking in the history of the internet? Of course not. Enjoy!

This is why I encourage other comics people to really look at the deadline they've been assigned and if it's even feasible. And not "it will kill me, but I can do it" feasible, either. Sometimes deadlines are arbitrary and can be adjusted! Especially early in the process! Ask for what you need!

NEW: I spoke with current and former EA employees to understand how the latest layoff round played out and the realities of daily life at the U.S. publisher. The short version? EA is controlled by an executive class that "cannot fail, only be failed." Workers, then, will always pay the price.

I do get unsolicited assignments occasionally—thank you, Artsy; gratzi, @bradfordpearson.bsky.social—but half of my day is spent pitching, sending LOIs, or reaching out to editors to remind them that I am, in fact, very much alive. I've learned to accept that this is how it is.

i'll tell ya one thing i miss is FREELANCE ASSIGNMENTS. i have never been a good pitch-er but i can pretty much write whatever someone tells me to and i used to have a stable of editors who liked hurling ideas at me and seeing what i came up with. the salad days of $300 assignments from MEL lol

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

Thirty years ago I was on a high-volume high-aggro mailing list, and when someone lost it like this the tradition was for someone to take the text of the message, alphabetize it, paste it into a reply, and say “these words didn’t appear to be in any particular order so I alphabetized them for you”
