Over a 20-year period, people were sentenced to prison more often, and for longer terms, in years when prosecutors were up for election, a Northwestern Law study finds. In other words, prosecutors were more eager to rob people’s freedom when they thought it would help them politically.

Well that depends. Do you think words have meanings? Like, when people say things, should we attach linguistic definitions to the words they use? Or do you think, like, you know, nothing really means anything, language is just kinda jazz and we should just kinda groove and zone out?

It is important for all Americans to reflect on this official statement. An agency that seizes people off the street at gunpoint, into overseas prisons, refers here to a *US citizen* as "this illegal alien". The rule of law protects all of us. It protects you. That was the genius of our Framers.

If you're a DOJ lawyer and your reaction to "okay, your job is to open a criminal investigation into the lady our boss sexually assaulted 30 years ago" is anything other than resigning on the spot, your choice to continue working there should haunt you for the rest of your life

Criticizing Israel and its behavior and policies, even very sharply, isn’t bigoted. Reflexively responding to any mention of Jews, Judaism, Jewish history or culture, or the Jewish community with demands to denounce Israel is absolutely bigoted and also unhinged.

How he ended up there is pretty unique, but what the real Mr. Woods went through is fairly par-for-the-course for people who have been falsely accused of a crime. When the system is wired to treat the defendant as guilty, protestations of innocence can seem insane.

IMPORTANT: Under federal law, it's very hard, at times near-impossible, to sue federal law enforcement officers for civil rights violations. But legal theorists have said for decades that there is a possible way to sue under state law instead. This is a VERY big test case.

BREAKING: We're suing federal immigration agents on behalf of Juan Sebastián Carvajal-Muñoz, a legal U.S. resident who was racially profiled and violently abducted in Maine in January. Agents violated his Fourth and Fifth Amendment rights and must be held accountable.

This war is horrible and Trump is a POS. That doesn't change the fact that the Iranian regime is a horrific violator of human rights. Just like you don't have to hand it to white nationalists, you also don't have to hand it to regimes which just recently murdered thousands of their own citizens.
