In an obituary of all places, @nytimes.com chose to promote ignorance from white supremacists when they could've said, "Ubisoft has a full-time historian on staff, and creates the games through extensive collaborations with experts in ancient art, architecture, and literature." Which is true.

Walked 7.6 miles in London today. Pretty hot for it. Had a nice dinner overlooking the Thames with a view of St. Paul. Waitress came up and told me not to have my phone on the table next to the railing where it could get snatched because, and I quote, “don’t you know London?”

they are on Threads fighting to the death over whether or not it is ableist for an author to use the word “scrying" (people might not know the definition!). how beautiful. people staring into their phones and getting so emotional over “scrying.” perhaps there really is magic in reflective surfaces!

Went to a Juneteenth event last night — an interfaith thing among local churches my wife helped with. Learned a bunch I didn’t know. Among what I learned — that Owen Brown, John Brown’s son, became a big local figure in Pasadena and his grave up on a mountain is still a popular hike.

/2 Anyway, the pastor who spoke talked about John Brown refusing to accept what was widely accepted, refusing to take the status quo as ordained, willing to treat the dispossessed as being just as worthy of your most extreme efforts as your brother or neighbor.

/3 Yeah, actually, if I get invited to a Juneteenth celebration at a church, and a Black pastor gives a historical talk and sermon, and I mention a major topic of his talk that I liked, and you yell at me for “centering white people on Juneteenth,” Ima block your judgy ass.

If Trump stuck two french fries in his nose and said he's going to tell Westeros to invade Narnia, Fox would devote 10 hours a day to the Narnian threat and the New York Times would run articles headlined "President Considers Expanding Conflict Zone; Critics Raise Questions"

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

"The president told me he's disappointed Israel can't put Hezbollah away. He went on to say, 'They can't do anything without knocking buildings down' & that he is close to giving it to Syria. He's talking about empowering the Syrian president to actually go into southern Lebanon and fight Hezbollah"

When I was a lad I wanted very badly to go to a movie memorabilia/funhouse type place in Hollywood that advertised on TV. My dad took me. After driving, and parking, and paying, and entering, it transpires that it was the WRONG movie museum/funhouse, without the same slide and so forth.

/3 ...about an hour away by hot stuffy subway etc. So we are going, and I have not made a face or complained once, because that's what love is about, and also, this may surprise you to hear, I am kind of a lot to put up with and I owe her.

/4 The wrong museum, the one in South Kensington, had quite a lot of nice stuff. Fortunately my wife and are similarly situated regarding museums: look for a while then say "yeah that's enough" and walk out.

/2 My dad, without complaint, took me to the other museum, even though the first one had cool cars he wanted to look at. I thought of that today when it transpired that we had gone to the WRONG Victoria & Albert museum, not the one my wife's friend had talked about, but one....

I never get used to how much cultists will degrade themselves by pretending to believe this lunatic’s nonsense.

Trump on the reflecting pool: “We met with contractors today, will probably be forced to release and drain much of the water in order to do the necessary repairs, but will have them done as quickly as possible.” 😭

So this is new. At the hotel’s breakfast buffet today I saw a lady with a tissue stuffed into her nose and hanging down. Like just 80% of the tissue hanging out of her nose. Is this a thing In some cultures?

Pretty rich stuff from Rep. Brandon Gill considering he’s a carpetbagger in his district — which he oddly never seems to find time to talk about — and only has that congressional seat because his father in law is Dinesh D’Souza, a first generation immigrant.

/2 In the spirit of this -- the notion that old people have rights founded upon the depths of their resentful grump -- I have the right to recognize the names of celebrities in the news. I have the right not to hear the cool music of my young adulthood played in pharmacies.

/3 I have the right for my knees not to make noises when I get out of bed in the morning. I have the right for Nabisco Mr. Salty Pretzels to still be available in the big blue box. I have the right to enjoy a stupid action movie with uncritical delight and free of any unspoken anxieties.

OK we can add "ripping out a state of the art filtration system for the reflecting pool because Obama installed it" to the list of things Trump has done out of absolute bitter jealousy of the first Black president.

Democrats refuse to acknowledge terrible injustices just because I completely made them up

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Rep. Claudia Tenney: "There are thousands and thousands of cases of people voting in the wrong place, at the wrong time. This happens all the time. But the Democrats want to tell you it doesn't happen because you can't prove it."

I don’t mean to be rude and I am not entitled to cast the first stone but why the fuck are a bunch of you giving attention to an obvious flame bait troll account?

Vance: If you give Donald Trump an IQ test, with the other 45 presidents that the United States has had, he'd be either near the top or at the top.
