After much research I have perfected the theory of "AI as the One Ring". All AI techbros consistently fall under: - Knows it's bad, thinks they're just built different - Thinks it's inevitable and switches sides w/ no morals - Thinks it's his magic girlfriend - Evil CEO ruling over the rest of them

On the Echoearth, because Wizards of the Coast voluntarily unionized, they negotiated a reduction in the number of sets per year, which freed up enough printing production to support print-on-demand Secret Lairs

There's so much fearmongering going around about people copying games with AI. The solution is not to hide away, but to lean into your weirdness, and I mean it in the best way possible AI can't copy your lived experiences or that niche PS2 that means the world to you and wish they would've

This is something that I've tried to articulate before. For me it's not even just about well written code (although beautiful in of itself), but also the intention, and the series of choices made in it's creation. It's not just a beautiful function. It's MY beautiful.

Last I'll post about this, but Elon Musk disagrees with me. This means I am onto something, and I feel more valid in my opinion than ever.

absolutely disgusting to shamelessly gloat about vibecoding your product as you're charging ahead to devalue an entire industry and several art forms with copious amounts of AI confetti hyperslop, depriving real artists and developers of oxygen

Every time I do AI programming (NPCs not LLMs), at some point in the debugging process, I inevitably sound like an exasperated parent asking my little guys running around “Why are doing that?? I told you not to do that!” And then inevitably it turns out the problem was in fact my parenting. :(

Unironically the best closed environment in magic. These four decks are about as perfect and balanced and fun as commander precons can be. @ethanfleischer.bsky.social's absolute best works to date, and thats saying something because Ethan never misses

Something AI is responsible for that doesn't get enough talk: How, when it scrapes a website to illegally steal everything on it, it uses up a ton of its bandwidth allotment, crashing it or racking up massive fees for site owners.

Edd Coates | Game UI Database@eddcoates.bsky.social

Yet again, the Game UI Database is being scraped to the point that it's getting knocked offline. Even Cloudflare's "I'm under attack" mode isn't working. I just wanted to create a resource for real designers. I'm getting so fucking sick of this.

Imagining a world where wotc throws some of those record profits at a dedicated printing/distribution facility specifically for secret lair so everything can be printed to demand without disrupting print timelines for other products and can get to people in a reasonable amount of time.

This year has been a real pain for moderation. We explicitly said no genAI, yet we still have people thinking that doesn't apply to them or that we won't notice. The most egregious ones are the ones that generate the text which explains how their game adheres to the jam's themes.

I don't need Internet to do programming. Heck I don't even need a computer. I can program and execute small virtual machines with a pen and paper to test my algorithmic ideas. In fact I've been doing exactly that for almost 20 years already when I'm not near a computer.

There is apparently no more searing hurt than an "AI" fluffer discovering their favorite science fiction writer disdains their beloved spicy autocorrect, it's a pain only matched by a conservative learning that their favorite rock band has been Marxist the whole time

I like to think that some part of Jace's subconscious made these Sphinxes. And as a Blue player, this is exactly what Green looks like to me. I play Land-pass on turn 3, I look down at my hand, plotting my path to victory. I look up and Green has access to 4 lands, 3 elves, and 17 mana. #MTGFRA

FWIW I don’t think that AI is an existential threat, nor on track to become one. I do however think that the leaders of the biggest AI companies, AI’s strongest boosters, and some of the folks who are most adept at using it to exploit others are actively hastening along OTHER existential threats.

"AI" has existed in its current form for barely four years and the fact that it's jammed up the cognitive development of an entire generation that fast (and that there's a specific overclass of techofascists who are deeply thrilled about this) is a big damn red flag. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/17/u...

Yeah it's called Eternal Skies. It's like a card game, you know like Magic the Gathering, but you play the computer and there's a story. It's like the old Pokemon TCG on game boy or the old Yugioh games on handheld. Or the 1996 MTG game but that's a bit of a deep cut. It's an under served genre.

Yes, all of this. Use your library! It's an unmitigated good in the world!

Tom Cox@dj-acid-reflux.bsky.social

Someone said to me, "I'm sorry but I got your book from a library." Nobody should ever apologise for that. You read my book! That's brilliant! I grew up hanging out in libraries and the idea of a world without them fills me with dread. Without libraries, authors, like readers, will only suffer.

Millions of copyrighted songs were fed to AI music generators - now there's proof Suno and rivals are being sued for $150k per song. A sum that would bankrupt these companies and set an important precedent.
