Everyone is weepy about the ending to Big Walk. I'm more pleased with being able to steal an object by throwing it through the window above the one-way exit before I walked through.

While most artists are just starting their art challenge with some kind of tober, I've already finished my Septembit 2026 Landscapes. I was happy to get back to it after a while #PixelArt #Septembit #Septembit2026

I'm still making art, but I am walled off from the wider internet. I just share it with other artists. Has anyone else started holding back since the AI scraping began?

I'm gonna say it - Penguin Colony is not a good game. It is not a deep game, and its commentary is surface level and somewhat offensive. It is badly coded with terrible collisions and level design, and it crashes. The models and art were good when they matched. The dialogue was well written. ++Music

Why, where the discussion is about colonialism, do the indigenous people repress the people who owned the land before them (the Great Old Ones) every century? Why are there Nazis in a story originally without Nazis, and why, if we're meant to dislike them, do they do nothing worse than archaeology?

I still have some reservations on Penguin Colony, but after finishing it I understand why there were Nazis and why we're collecting the words. I still have some major issues with gameplay decisions, but at least that is cleared up.

Still, I'm finding it hard to justify the amount of z-fighting, misplaced assets, weird geometry normals and major movement mechanics which weren't noticed in testing. The commentary is different to what I thought, but also... difficult.

I think I am most upset that this clearly represents a promising collection of people's ideas, art, voice acting, writing, and social commentary, and it was delivered so poorly and with such little oversight or quality check that it falls apart like wet mush.

It's like someone saw that all this was provided in an asset pack, ran it through some vibe code, gave it the most base-level appeal to widely accepted moralism, then shot it out without checking whether it made any sense.

There is a lot to be said about Lovecraft and his eugenicist ideas (which aren't represented at all in his story Mountains of Madness), and the reviews all rave about how Penguin Colony discusses it in depth. All I have seen is that Nazis turn up and set up camp and go mad.

I cannot emphasise how much I liked hearing another dialect and the music which plays while exploring and was credited. I loved the organic 3D models. But somewhere in tying this thing together someone asked ChatGPT for gameplay advice and it gave a random list of bullet points.

I really liked the photographs' artwork. The word collection has sparked interesting discussion with my friends. What made the most discussion though is the baffling choices. I hate to say it, but if it wasn't vibecoded or AI ideated, I have a real concern for what that implies for Origame Digital.

Why are there stunts in this game? Why are random assets floating in the air? What's with the empty spaces? Why is there ocean blocks above ocean? Why are there different kinds of penguin but never placed in a meaningful way?

It's just a little search engine question. It's just a little code autocomplete. It's just an album cover. It's just the photos of my fends and family edited on my phone. It's just my dental records. It's just a silly video for the group chat. It's just a fan film on Kickstarter. It's just tiktok.

It's not that serious. I've just integrated and normalised it into every day-to-day segment of my life. It's only a technology that was made at the cost of tens of billions of dollars and thousands of neighbourhoods delivered into my home for free. Why do you care so much?

anyway the current state of modding communities is pretty definitive proof that the "democratization" of creation that ai people like to talk about is an actively bad thing

I've been listening to the voyager golden record. On one hand, it fills me with hope and pride of the human species. On the other I can't help but imagine what would happen if that disk were to arrive in the hands of the average human being. I doubt they'd even know it contained audio.

"Ah yes these two circles mean hydrogen, that diagram indicates the width of the particle, so that means..." [prying open the aluminium case with their teeth and chewing on the record to see if it's really gold]

Hello #PortfolioDay I'm a hobbyist 3D artist, I started learning Blender in the fall of 2022, but I only started posting my art in 2024. I'm still unsure about what I want to specialize in and I'm experimenting with a variety of styles
