Being anti ai is (throws dart at a board covered in bad things) mormon

Me, completely stumped on an issue for a couple hours: okay usually this is when I go shower and figure it out, but this one really just seems impossible. I really just don't think there's a good way to do it. Me in the shower: figures out a good solution instantly

Anthropic: structures every deal and front loads every contract so the bulk of the money hits in Q2, while spreading their costs to hit after Q2 so they can say they're profitable Internet financial analysts: oh my god Anthropic is profitable, these financials are amazing!

Digital poetry should be a genre. Short, powerful, unique audiovisual interactive experiences. A major issue to this though is that steam would just let players refund after finishing. Another issue is the culture of gaming being.....yeah. We should all support Nathalie as she tries anyway.

The best part about working on my game is that I can just work for my 3 or 4 really productive hours and then do other stuff, instead of sitting around for 8+ hours pretending I'm getting things done that whole time.

At my desk job people usually arrive, take two hours to get going anyway, and basically stop working two hours before leaving anyway. They pretty much already work 4 hours with a lunch break anyway, they just have to stay a full day.

I feel like with the Bioware news, there is a massive group of people like "oh no Mass Effect!" and another massive group like "oh no Dragon Age!" and then a smaller group like "oh no KOTOR!". And then me standing by myself like "oh no Jade Empire!". I friggin loved that game.

Me seeing other game devs talk: shaders, models, positioning things in a gui, more shaders, blueprints, behaviors embedded in objects, all kinds of stuff I don't understand Me: just tell it to blit images at a bunch of specific pixel locations and run it to see what it looks like. repeat until game

A small silver lining to all this stupid trans panic is it may be creating trans allies. A few years ago I would have been like sure I support trans people. Now I've got trans rights shirts and won't vote for a politician who is anti trans. And the allies will still be there when the panic passes.

Personally at least, it moved me from a passive supporter to an active one. I mean I'm not out there protesting because my health is terrible, but I contact my reps. And since my representative is AOC and she recently made a statement of support, I'd like to think I helped there.

I still think this trailer sucks and I made it in thirty minutes, but people seem to like it, so I should share it more. Of course, I think everything I make sucks.

Pinned post update for new trailer: I'm Connor, and I'm working on being an indie game dev. I'm making a game that's gonna be retro and nostalgic and pure vibes Steam: store.steampowered.com/app/3133320/Eternal_Skies_TCG/ Discord: discord.com/invite/DenBbkpTwx Website: eternalskies.neocities.org/

Tim Sweeney is just proving you never ever ever want to be a billionaire. It cooks your brain so badly that you could do anything in the world, but he's spent an entire week just rage posting that people don't like AI on twitter Bro go blow off steam buying an island or some shit what are you doing

You know, I do actually understand the temptation sometimes when I'm programming to just have the computer do some parts of it. But I really need to know how it works. All of it. Every bit. Also I like my brain fully functional.

"you need to aggressively cut scope if you want to ship games" No thanks. I'm making a pretty specific and unique experience here, not creating a general mass market product. It's a game first and a product second, not the other way around.

Thinking about how much better everything would be if we replaced CEOs with literal children. Can you imagine the awesome games that would come out if the people in charge of video games were like, imaginative ten year olds instead of soulless corporate dipshits?

Where are all the gamers who will only play an indie game if it's less than a dollar per hour they spend on it on this? I'm guessing that all of a sudden when it comes to ball and gun games, it's fine to spend more than a dollar per hour. That was just bullshit to be a cheapskate to Indies.

Rami Ismail (رامي)@ramiismail.com

"Game Pass subscribers will get a number of free cloud gaming hours every month: Game Pass Ultimate (at $23 a month) gets you 15 hours, Game Pass Premium ($15 a month) 10 hours, and Game Pass Essential ($10 a month) 5 hours. Extra hours need to be purchased." The fuck gizmodo.com/microsoft-an...

The funny thing about this comic is they think the label is the issue. Players will still see it and say ew AI slop and not want to play it. I can see why you would think it given your success with fortnite and literally nothing else Tim, but players are not actually complete and utter morons.

Kim Hu@kim-hu.com

I can't believe he's still at it, it's been days

I'm getting the impression now that the result of Next Fest becoming more slop laden is that it's even more winner take all now. The algorithmic recs filter out all the slop effectively, but the random ones were what gave smaller Indies a shot in the first place. So again it's be big to win more.

this also goes for indies btw, which is why the 30% cut steam takes is so egregious. that 30% is often the difference between one and done, or a studio that gets to make a second and maybe third game. and it would cost them literally nothing to take no cut for the first 100k, it's a rounding error

Thomas Marrone@thomasthecat.bsky.social

Most studios that generate an overnight hit are actually on the 3rd or 4th title. Blizzard, Larian, Arrowhead, these places had several games under their belts before their first true blockbuster. Like George RR Martin they had been grinding XP for years before becoming a household name.

"we need to show games in person" "we need to show games later" "there are too many games and too much AI, what are we going to do?" motherfucker what is VALVE GOING TO DO, they take 30% of every sale! this is on them!
