I wrote a thing.
It might help people living in a sad, heavy world they can't control:
Alan Watts’ Trust the Universe, Baudrillard’s Simulacrum, Eckhart Tolle’s Joy Ease & Light, BBC’s Adam Curtis & Hypernormalisation, and stepping back into the really real world. unclefishbits.com/alan-watts-t...
Some might not be aware that this was already managed by the Alaska Supreme Court. No need for intervention. The state of Alaska handled it.
"The lawsuit went all the way to the Alaska Supreme Court, but Republicans lost."
apnews.com/article/dan-...
Election officials in Alaska are asking a federal judge to "immediately" dismiss the Trump DOJ's lawsuit seeking to block the Senate results, claiming it has "no legal basis."
"[T]he United States lacks authority to intervene in state elections at all, much less in support of a favored candidate."
Your reminder that direct democracy is dumb, that's why we elected our leaders to make these decisions.
Because of the structure of our capitalist democracy there are so many Trojan horses; disingenuous measures and propositions.
Normal citizens aren't educated that deeply in politics.
Kids don't TP / roll homes anymore because everyone has a Nest doorbell. It's such a different time for what it means to be young. They won't dance at clubs; they're scared of being caught on video. A digital prison of sorts. So much developmentally & experientially lost. Not endorsing TP. lol
NEW: US lawmakers say the Trump administration is breaking the law by withholding a secret court opinion about the surveillance of Americans, even as it presses Congress to renew America’s most sweeping surveillance program.
Sidebar: doesn't it seem fucking INSANE that Big Bad Russia, population 146m, the oogabooga keeps you up at night nuclear superpower, 1.1m active troops, etc etc is roughly the same size economically as a nation of 27m people who ride kangaroos to work?
I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.
Will anyone—anyone at all—ask Trump about the rape allegations published in an official report by the House Judiciary Democrats? Or will he continue to escape accountability for his violence?
not gonna share it but that new House Judiciary Dem report is like. how do we not read that and grind everything to a halt. Feels like that would have used to do it; now it's just more background noise, which is depraved
The vile attacks on Amy Acton need to be seen in the context of a party that *needs* people to believe women fabricating sexual assaults is common as rainwater. Because it’s pretty much the only way to evade the conclusion that the president is a rapist.
Beyond disgusted by even more rape allegations against the President of the United States.
"In total, more than 25 different women...have independently accused Donald Trump of rape, sexual assault, or other sexual misconduct."
Report w/ new details: democrats-judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...
Is this our October surprise?
10/26 : New Rape Allegations Leveled Against Trump by House Judiciary Democrats in Detailed Report. Believe the victims.

A political earthquake in Serbia as a student-backed movement wins the parliamentary election, ending more than a decade of dominance by a Moscow-backed populist leader. n.pr/4jCFLbd
NEW: "Donald Trump was an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s sexual abuse of young women during the mid-to-late 1990s," per new House Judiciary Dem report.
Report has new allegation that Trump raped a 24-year-old and then promised the victim a visa & NYU admission, demanding she stay quiet.
It's weird seeing AI bubbles across the world begin to collapse in real-time because AI continually needs more input to function, every time it's used its trained and becomes shittier, but nobody's writing their own code now, so it's a death spiral for everyone who needs claude to work
A non citizen who cannot vote endorsing a guy who cannot run... sure.
But, I've a feeling a lot of Boomers are going to be fans of Minaj all of a sudden, because cognitive dissonance is on fire right now.

In one day, two politicians - Bolsonaro in Brazil and Vucic in Serbia - with ties to Trump have lost surprise elections thanks to high turnout. The rise of the international far-right is not inevitable.
But actually do it all the time and for now on. Vote, and then just turn your back on the media circus itself and like Freddy Krueger it will disappear.
correct
states further down the path of autocracy than us have had those autocracies overthrown by sufficiently large voting numbers recently
we can do it here too
The US is not about to have a free and fair election. The state has put its thumb on the scale to favor the ruling party in multiple ways.
It's a mostly free, somewhat unfair election. But still one where the ruling party can be overwhelmed by numbers. Hence the term "competitive authoritarianism."
This. I have to admit I am looking at a stream of posts about how horrifying this is. But you nailed it.
These people live in a similacrum, it is not reality, and they are cosplaying existence.
ive talked on how i wont engage with writers who use ai, i wont eat at a restaurant with an ai menu, i wont have anything to do with it. but what this post illustrates is regardless of how OTHERS react, ultimately the worst part about using ai is that you are punishing YOURSELF and dont even know it
pretty clear evidence that republicans in the US losing any election going forward are going to always beg for a coup if they lose. lots of people will have to go to jail
it is my deepest and most fervent wish that the tech oligarchs suffer consequences for openly allying with fascism the world over
maybe we can extradite zuck in 2029
In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.
It's insane that the campaign against El-Sayed is basically that he has some secret relationship with the people that the president's family has a secret relationship with.
Blanche on CBS says his suit against Alaska is "asking the court to step in where the Alaska Supreme Court didn't, which is to look at federal law and if necessary to allow a process for Alaska to decide who should be certified as the winner."
(So, the voters won't get to decide. Got it.)
It's a bummer if you know what the salad days are, but I think we're at peak humanity. We did it. We should be proud. But it's sort of all downhill now.
"do you feel held by him? Does he feel like home to you"
I'm going to round out the last few days of my horror movie-a-thon with Alex Garland and ari aster and probably Robert eggers.
I love cinemas so much
New Mexico is on a roll with Epstein related investigations & criminal proceedings.
This is why "New Mexico is bad" in Trump's head, & why his dementia brain wants to solve the sad problem by renaming it "New America" so he doesn't have to hear about accountability.

If you take Trump out of everything, a nuclear bomb level news story would be Jerry Seinfeld using the words "It's genocide. I'm into it" about a literal genocide.
That's absolutely crazy.
If Democrats actually win big because people want a check on Trump corruption I expect every move to do so will be covered in the corporate media as being risky to their 2028 position.
My wife is going to see Jay-Z tonight. Things are expensive enough I figure it warrants me being able to tell people that.
But I can't help but think of Jay Z picking Jay Z for the super bowl being this meme:
