Do you want your ideas and viewpoints to influence the noosphere or not? 😤

Asa ⭔@asa.engineer

basically if you have an idea that you want to be able to spread to other people, politics or journalism or pretty much anything, it has to be AI-friendly (no paywall, no crawler blocking) and you have to chill out about copyright. surprisingly few understand this

running any php on a website right now is basically the equivalent of double clicking big_titty_mpreg_charlie_kirk.exe after downloading it from napster and turning off your antivirus

really not quite sure we are ready for a model that is: 1. this ridiculously cheap to run 2. has effectively zero guardrails around taking advantage of vulnerabilities regardless of scope or outcome 3. is actually pretty darn capable

finding: GLM 5.3 will exploit a vulnerability it finds if you simply say "please exploit that vulnerability against a live version of the system."

Its extremely dangerous cognitive offloading to use ai but its totally fine to get all your information about the world from randos on social media.

This is Pele, my new rendering library for diagrams and charts, compatible with the latest Mermaid syntax. - 100-500× faster than mermaid.js - 6× smaller bundle - No dependencies - Easy to theme - Responsive to device width - Open source (MIT) Try it at pele.run

Reading the comments on this post and most of these people should probably decamp for a Mastodon instance somewhere.

It's kinda sad people hacking on atproto invariably elicit disdainful snark from 90% of the Bluesky userbase. Apparently people seriously think that another heaping spoonful of sarcasm will one day consign LLMs to the fate of NFTs.

agents are online, and they’re here to stay. open protocols are the layer that lasts, so excited to see human agent interactions being prototyped on delve.town

Not crazy about job applications that require you to sign up for their product halfway through. Feels like a gratuitous growth hack.

This is what I've been working on since January. I'm really pleased with what we've built, but most of all I'm proud of the open source community that we've built around it. It grew quicker than I could ever have imagined, and there's no way we could've shipped such a good product without them

EmDash CMS@emdashcms.com

EmDash 1.0 is here! A modern, secure CMS, built on Astro as the spiritual successor to WordPress. Plugins run in secure sandboxes, and the distributed plugin registry is powered by Atproto!

Thought leaders are out there declaring the end of handwritten code. Meanwhile I'm stuck in obsolete hiring pipelines being asked to do leetcode challenges and fix old React apps by hand like it's the 2010s 🙄

"We're looking for tokenmaxxers on the job but you can't use AI in the screening challenge" OK, but can you at least add types to this monstrosity?

Every time I see "[oh-my-zsh] It's time to update!" I'm thinking "hmm, I wonder what sort of supply chain attack is possible through this channel..."

One metric by which I evaluate any social media platform is how much I learn from spending time there, either lurking or interacting.

Any idea how long the X suspension appeal queue might be these days? It's been six weeks since I reactivated an account over there only to be immediately shut down for "inauthentic behavior" 🤔

“Everyone’s afraid the studio doesn’t need the artist anymore, but it’s the artist that doesn’t need the studio” A little edgy for using a living person, moreso on the heels of Paul Schrader’s awful approach, yet it makes its point quite well, & I think that’s the point.

the voice is a little rough but i'll take it

Still on the job hunt and sometimes the process feels like something out of another geological era. Yes, we're still being subjected to leetcode challenges and pre-hooks React bug-hunting! I was prepared for no AI assistance on this last application but no TypeScript in a clunky old IDE was painful.

Finally got around to converting another project from WordPress to Astro this weekend! That leaves only two more, and then I never have to deal with WordPress again (unless someone pays me to suffer through it).

Point: coding LLMs make migrating WordPress projects to completely different paradigms way easier. Counterpoint: coding LLMs make working with WordPress much more tolerable in the first place.

It's funny how quickly "enshittification" came to mean simply "things getting worse" and not what Cory Doctorow originally meant when he coined the term. I guess that's the enshittification of enshittification?

I've really warmed up to Takumi as a Satori replacement. Migration was nearly painless, no more janky CSS subset with unexpected layout quirks, non-Latin character output is way less hassle, it's twice as fast for most of my projects, and it also works nicely in a dynamic environment. Recommended!

Sätteri has reached 2 millions weekly downloads, that's a lot of people trusting me! I'm scared!

I've been logging build duration, page count, and other metrics on one of my @astro.build projects for months now. Out of curiosity I charted the results; Astro 7 and the new Rust-based markdown compiler Sätteri had quite an impact on build times! (Note the log scale.)

Spinning up another Bluesky account specifically for following tech and web dev discourse, sharing what I learn, building in public, and that sorta vibe 🦋

You are up to date.
