(still a wip, but) I started exploring the x86 boot path as an interactive tutorial kumavis.github.io/vibe-dump/co...
You should be fascinated hitting the power button on your computer. Every boot on an x86 machine iterates through the entire sequence of computing evolution in a few milliseconds:
Ironically: AI made me use more hand tools this week than I'd used any week in the last year. I had an LLM assist in laying out the CAD and cut list for a piece of furniture I wanted from a list of boards I had. OnShape's MCP is pretty awesome...
Quitting programming as a career right now because of LLMs would be like quitting carpentry as a career thanks to the invention of the table saw.

I wrote a sci fi short story in 2016 that covered this. The way we trust things is gradual and never complete. It has almost nothing to do with abstract concepts like “understanding”. blog.danfinlay.com/solomons-wak...

@daniloc.xyz I was trying out your coherence system, and my bot found that JS sources aren't currently supported, & made a fix. Feel free to have your own bot make the fix if you don't want to trust me, a stranger: github.com/PostHog/cohe...

One answer to "what is the shape of a preference?"is: Posts! Extracting the conversation to gain perspective on dividers and unifiers seems way under explored. Could we automate finding common ground? This was a cool multi layer clustering: atlas.jazco.dev#view=1.80/0....
There could be more mathematicians in the future instead because LLM’s are some of the best non-human expert tutors that humans have ever had access to. Easier path to the summit of the shared knowledge, more people to participate in the conversations that matter.
To take an example, it is unequivocally a good thing that we now have 700+ new proofs of interesting things. It is bad if there are fewer mathematicians in the future as a consequence (though of course there might be more instead somehow)

"PNPM also blocks post-install scripts. Does NPM still yolo those?" Nope, 2026 is when all pkgmgrs opt out of install scripts by default. I just came back from giving a talk about supply chain @nodeconf.eu Slides: naugtur.pl/pres3/lava/2...

The thing that’s still under explored is the “voice” side: Yeah, our democracy is bug riddled and antiquated. That doesn’t mean only hierarchical domination can work. Get imaginative.
Yarvin and Land's alternative is 'exit' over 'voice': rather than reform states, let people leave them. Picture a patchwork of competing sovereign micro-states run like corporations, with citizens as customers. The current became known as neoreaction, or NRx.
