Hey #GameDev community (or anyone else interested in ARGs!) I'm looking to become a consultant on ARGs and freelance designer/runner for them too. I have a history going back to 2016 of playing & helping make both professional and hobbyist! Twitch & PUBG I've helped make/run official ARGs for. 1/3

It's Asexual Awareness & Acceptance Week! So... hi! I'm an ace author who lives in the woods. Asexuality isn't a lack of joy; I just find joy elsewhere. I love Horror, and Fantasy, and kaiju, and puns, and most of all: books. Do y’all like books?

Oh lmao, I wondered where I recognised that studio logo from for Giggleland. Turns out it's the Israeli studio that posted job listings that caught my eye cause it talked about ARGs, but in a way that clearly showed they had no idea what ARGs were 😂

No company website (even still now) or anything, so that + the bad job descriptions I genuinely thought it was a scam of some kind. Nope, just another mascot horror I guess.

bsky.app/profile/iiot... Was just sent this which translates the article and it's honestly fucking worse than the summary is. God fucking damnit uchi you were awesome, you do not need this, why.

Sky@skylarkblue1.itch.io

As it turns out, Uchikoshi's game was cancelled not because he was being forced to use AI, but *potentially* because he was being forced to NOT use ai. I'm going to fucking crash out man Does anyone have a more accurate translation cause I really hope this is just fucked up translation/summary

THE FUCKING IMAGE OF THE EARTH WITH A RED FILTER ON IT THAT'S ONLY LIKE 20PX BIG ON THE WEBSITE IS FUCKING CHATGPT SLOP Yeah that's it, fucking hundred line is off my wishlist, fuck anything from him now

Actions speak louder than words, personally I was in talks with Epic to get all my game assets on their Fab.com marketplace (for free) but cancelled the deal immediately. If they want slop, let them have slop.

Between Tim Sweeney being an absolute AI chud and the harassment of our beloved @kenney.nl, we've decided to cancel our previously announced Epic Games Store release for Shape Sender Deluxe 🚮

I just wanted to know why all the WatchWord showings have suddenly vanished for the Odeon at Cabot Circus 😭 Generative AI has made support actually fucking entirely impossible to get from companies now

we should all be pissed off at this btw. if not because sex work is legitimate work and should be treated with respect, then because you should be concerned at attempts to gentrify online spaces as pretext to court investors and force out minorities so those spaces can become part of a portfolio.

Found the source, he's gone on to also expand on his thoughts in interviews. Cannot wait to see Wildwood 😄

‘Wildwood’ director Travis Knight on AI: “A pencil is a tool. A paintbrush is a tool. A 3D printer is a tool. A digital capture is a tool. AI is not a tool. AI can go fuck itself.”

Fuck off with your verbal abuse, no apologies, no refunds and absolutely abysmal communication. Asking for £89(???) when I didn't even get all I paid for the first time around is maddening

Vampirium: 1997 isn’t in next fest, but while you’re in a wishlisting mood, I’d really appreciate you adding us too. Makes a big difference and helps us position ourselves better down the road :) Also I added pyromancy today. So that’s fun. store.steampowered.com/app/4035190/...

If you don't think coding is fun anymore because of AI, you never liked coding in the first place. This is just a fucking disgrace tbh

Can we please start to see companies boycotting epic? Moving away from unreal, not releasing on EGS. Move your games, move your audience. Tim needs to be put in his place, this cannot continue with him like this.

Don't let billionaires convince you slop is the future. They're used to managing & directing, not making things themselves. Of course they can't see the difference. They don't understand your love for the craft. Keep making personal, beautiful games. You've got my support 💖

Finished Penguin Colony. It's not as smooth as Umurangi, but has amazing vibes and a twist on Lovecraft that is worth experiencing. Also, lots of secrets left to uncover! But before any talk about the gameplay & story, I just want to share this screenshot. Kudos to @veselekov.bsky.social & the team

Why do we keep on doing this? Praising a 'small core team' for a game with 1100+ people in the credits is incredibly misleading. This PR narrative hurts, hides the massive shadow workforce of outsourced developers and testers, and sets impossible standards for actual indie teams.

GamesIndustry.biz@gibiz.bsky.social

Star Wars: Galactic Racer was made by a core team of 75 people. "What we wanted to do was keep that core small, smaller than perhaps you might have done in the past, and scale capacity and capability with what we call distributed development." https://bit.ly/4hT02qg

Given that the person who had their game "replicated" is also an AI slopper, is lying about that, and the "replica" was on Steam before their game was: I feel ok using this as a jumping off point for discussing why I don't think this is anywhere near as much of an issue as people are worried about

Sos "Buy Lazy Kickers" Sosowski@sosowski.bsky.social

How do you even survive as an indie in the current landscape? This is insane.

Finished off a really fucking shitty day with a lorcana pre-release event at a local I've never been to before. Found some very lovely people, some fantastic games - went in expecting to win nothing, won 2/5 rounds instead!!

Another charity bundle with train sim world :') Please, I beg, people are going to be less likely to buy a bundle with AI slop in it. It does seem like the devs of that series are intentionally shoving it into as many charity bundles as possible as thats the only place I see the games talked about

Vibe coded programs are extremely dangerous. You have no idea wtf the code is made to do, and neither does the person distributing it. Like sure, it could infect your PC or create backdoors, but also memory leaks, render files unusable, brick it so you can't boot, anything Do not install them

Nash@radiodeadair.com

If you still have the Epic Games Launcher on your system, don't update it and get it the fuck off of your computer. There's no telling what damage it can do or what vibecoded landmines are waiting in it.

I feel like I'm missing something? Why can't it be that a different game was cancelled, and the zero escape game announcement was pushed up to now, and just happened to have the ARG on it? ARGs are kinda his thing, they've been frequent with his and kodakas works

John Michonski@john.gamesline.net

Seeing some talk that the Uchikoshi announcement is an ARG, and if it is I hope he knocks it off. Basing your funny game announcement game on "I got fired and need financial support" when the industry has had so many layoffs this year is gross.
