I do not trust these kind of benchmarks unless I trust the source, which is almost never.. doubly so in this case..

This benchmark got worse the more people looked into it. He basically said the one-shotted everything, but what he actually did was very different. The Rust iteration got way more work. And the first version of Elixir was faster than the first version of Rust 😂

The rule Before changing an existing system, design the affected slice from first principles as if greenfield, then reconcile it with the code that exists. The greenfield pass is not academic — it is how you find the one place the cheap path would have been a bolt-on.

Let me know if you have a better conceptual model than this. I definitely do not "dark factory" my software and take ownership of the implementation. I just want it to reason more like I do so it has fewer "misses".

I notice that there's almost no attention paid to the emotional experience of work. For example, the emotional roller coaster of dealing with promotion cases or maybe the emotional experience of proposing something and it being rejected. Just as examples.
