Update: the components I need are nearly impossible to get here or more expensive than the desk itself so I'll have to build my own board.

I emailed the company that sells my current standing desk because one of its boards is fried and I need a replacement. They never replied so now I need to diagnose and fix the board myself, so far I only know it's shorted somewhere I hope it's not some smd component because I hate dealing with those

I made something that ran in 5 minutes run in 20 seconds so it was worth it I guess

I hoped to get some rest this weekend, instead I nerdsniped myself *HARD* into some very aggressive performance work so yeah this will be a 12 workday week for me

I always disliked the alias thing phoenix does with scopes scope "/", MyAppWeb do get "/", FooController, :index end It implicitly creates an alias that only phoenix knows how to resolve. And right now I'm not enjoying having my lsp plugin resolve that efficiently.

Do you know of any large open-source elixir codebase? I'm talking in the ballpark of 200k, 300k LOC or more. I often need to test the performance of a change but I don't have a large enough codebase for the measurements to be representative of our user base.

After way too much time working on stability and fixes, I'm finally at the point where I can start adding lots of features to Expert so I'm quite excited about what's to come

Ash is a perfect example of why data > functions. Anything defined by the DSL is stored as data that can be referenced later. Ash generates functions and stuff from that data, and integrating it with something like an LSP completions is rather easy, just ask the DSL what's available. It's so good.

I found that after ignoring 99% of online discourse about technology my sanity has improved. It's sad because I grew up on an internet where you learned something useful on the regular(except for elitist assholes), now it's pure shilling, false claims, and dogma around millionaire charlatans.

Synchronicity scares me

oh hey, I wrote an NES emulator in Elixir 60fps (on my machine) with sound. This is Castlevania 3 which might be the toughest one to emulate. github.com/dbernheisel/... #ElixirLang

I sprained my thumb on a judo practice and it has become painfully evident we use our thumbs for a lot of things

PSA if you use Expert and need to hook into it to debug an issue you're having, you can now use the "Open remote shell" command on VSCode(or configure your editor bindings to that command) and it'll drop you to an IEx session inside Expert. #ElixirLang

[elixir-core:12202] WALTER IS COMING Hey neighbors! Walter will be coming around again to clean our air vents and dryer vents. He did an excellent job last time, very detailed and professional. I highly recommend him!

I've been reading The Hobbit and it reads like a summary of an old-school D&D campaign. Party goes here, random encounter, party goes there, random encounter, and so on. Good stuff.

If I have a tab open on a GH issue/PR but it's not an active tab, and there is new activity in it, @github.com will not send me a notification and I will miss it. In the case it does, it is still marked as read. I only realize I missed stuff when I manually go over PRs to check their status.

I put a video for japanese listening practice in youtube and I got hit by the fucking auto translated audio track Will this ever stop or are we softlocked in the bad ending route

I was having issues getting my ST7789 to work with the esp32 c3 so I asked the clanker to find the issue and fix it. It did not fix it and insisted on a handrolled shitty implementation. I found the solution in an old forum post. Basically downgrade the board driver and use a specific pin config.

Am I the only one that feels very inclined to ignore a job offer email if it's sent by a recruiting app? It may be a legitimate offer for a legit good position but I see "This email has been sent to you through hireEZ" in small muted letters and I feel a primal urge to nope tf out

This podcast changed my life

ThinkingElixir@thinkingelixir.com

It’s true! After 6 years of weekly episodes, the Thinking Elixir Podcast will be ending on June 23rd. Three episodes left. It’s been an incredible run and I’m grateful for every listener who came along for the journey. #podcast #MyElixirStatus #ElixirLang

I feel like I can validate ideas faster than ever now, but I'm as slow as I've always been when it comes to implementation

I had to replace the pressure booster pump in my house and it was supposed to be a quick replacement but I spent the entire freaking day because I wasn't able to purge all the air in the pipes Software engineering is easy in comparison to this shit at least the compiler tells you what's wrong
