Really fun to build custom/personal iOS apps using AI. I have 2 so far: one that shows the status of my train as a live activity on the lock screen, and another for measuring phone signal during my train journey (surprisingly I couldn’t find a good app on the store for this).

Apropos of nothing, if you're considering switching from a recently deprecated browser and want to try Firefox, I just landed `Copy Tab URL` in nightly - it's not bound by default but a quick visit to `about:keyboard` will let you set it, and also take a glance at the other neat shortcuts we have.

Just watched Forgotten Island with my 8-year-old son. It felt like a long series of AI-type TikToks. I’m dumbfounded over the high ratings. Maybe I’m just getting old but my son felt the same!

Slack pro tip: in settings, change Enter key to start a new line instead of send. (Use Cmd+Enter to send instead.) I like it because it encourages more thoughtful dialog.

I’m on the market for a foldable bike for my commute. Potentially electric. Any recommendations? Brompton seems like the obvious choice but curious about alternatives.

Instagram has decided to show me endless videos of Stardust Racers and Velocicoaster—the world’s best rollercoasters. I have no complaints. 😀

After a decade at Cloudinary, I am looking work. I'm a web developer who's done a lot of devrel, too. I'm good at the front of the front end, great at browsers and standards and deeply understanding and explaining technical topics, and the stem of my T-shaped skills is: "images, on the internet".

I like to make a distinction between writing code and typing code. Write the code in your mind, then get AI to *type* (not write) it for you.

An engineer I work with gave me a simple rule for using AI: brain → AI → brain. Understand the problem before the agent builds. Then check its work before anyone else has to. New post: terriblesoftware.org/2026/10/02/t...

This was a *THRILLING* interview. Cory has so much to say on AI, workers rights, software freedom, and so on. It's refreshing to hear nuanced, realistic views beyond "ai good" and "ai bad". Give it a listen!

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

I really don't know why, but when I land on a web site that has a little bit of unintentional horizontal play, it distresses me, and instead of reading the article or page, I end up searching for why the page has overshot the width of my page. Such a terrible habit. Stupid developer brain.

Am I the only one who thinks, actually the alert system should be used for something more useful than "you're about to die lol"? Sure it's common sense that the country is dry and fire is bad, but people are still using BBQs and camping stoves and smoking cigarettes so it's clearly not so common. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Replying to @jj-vcs.dev

jj absorb now lets you interactively choose which hunks from the source to consider for absorption. This is useful when you only want to absorb part of a commit without first splitting it. Any hunks that are not selected or cannot be absorbed remain in the source commit.

I'm so burnt out from AI era velocity, slop posts, bots and the attention economy, that I've recently got a balance phone. It's black & white, doesn't allow social, and has reduced motion on by default. It's wonderful. But actively avoiding being online does leave me feeling weird about my job.

@acemarke.dev Crazy idea but I wonder if it would make sense to have a compiler for selectors that automatically memoizes, like how React Compiler. So you don't have to manually optimize e.g. with `createSelector`. Is this something you've thought about before?

@en-js.bsky.social 👋 If you were building an SPA today in React (e.g. a dashboard), how would you do state management? Imagining that much of the state needs to be shared by many components. Context + React Compiler? 1 or many useSyncExternalStores? State library? Etc.

The problem with being a person who is good at something like content operations, is that if I do my job well, everything runs smoothly and my work is invisible. I'm not particularly career-minded, and just like things to be good, but I wish for this type of impact was more valued.

@ped.ro 👋 I love floating notes in Raycast, but I'm constantly confused as to what has focus: - When notes has focus, cursors still appear in other applications. - When notes has focus, the menu bar isn't dimmed so it looks like another app is focused. I'm curious if this has come up before?

AI has meant prolific CLIs now ship updates daily, which leads to update fatigue. if you have a CLI telling me every single day that my CLI is out of date, you're doing something wrong leave me alone or update in the background
