I spent the past few months going from "the craft I loved is dead" to "this is a really great time to be a software engineer". Fast execution was my strength for 10 years, agents made it less valuable.

While I agree that we need ways to reduce bundle size easily in apps and have good framework choices - we can do more, LLM's enable us to quickly refactor and migrate, let's do better than saving x% But... if this works for you and you can shave 40-70% of react, please do it!

Anyone willing to give me some pointers on how I'd be able to get better at this whole OSS marketing thing because I think the projects I am maintaining are really suffering and ... it's because of me 😂

For anyone wanting to create a new npm, look at their roadmap discussions. It has so many good features mentioned while not being acknowledged. Not major but npm's download numbers have been down for 4 days and nobody even remotely cares

ProtonMail has finally gotten me to the point where I'm just writing my own E-Mail client with integration points... - Email - Calendar - Scheduling - Notion support With easy to access from MCP, CLI, ... Just need a good email client and one my hermes can use

It kind of feels weird how my Quest has shifted a bunch of times in life, in OSS I've been deep in GraphQL/Preact/... and all of it comes down to improving the web. It started in improving performance, went to creating great tools and now I'm gravitating back towards performance

AI has kind of destroyed the joy of creating tools for me, GraphQL has lost a lot of meaning for me due to how it's steered and Preact has started feeling like finished software. Trying to see where I end up but for now, it's a bit of everything

Around 70% of open source maintainers work alone or in small teams, and most are unpaid. @mirandaheath.website, Director and psychologist at the @stewardshiplab.org on the four drivers of burnout and what AI does to each. @viteconf.org 2026, 15 oct (TODAY) 2pm UTC. Free and online. viteconf.org

I'd love to hear from preact users, what are you doing with Preact? What is going well? What isn't? Have you tried 11?

The comments are one of the recurring issues I see with BlueSky at this point in time. There's a lot of hate for someones opinion being expressed, similar things happened when Theo joined this platform... We can't just bully people away, heck I was even scared of posting this thing...

Being welcoming of each others opinion is an important piece, not everyone is inherently bad, nothing is black and white... Let's listen to each other and welcome people in rather than shaming

Ryan has done such a great job on our types, these little DX details go such a long way in achieving better a11y

Ryan@rschristian.dev

One minor feature of Preact 11 that we haven't talked about much is the strictly typed aria roles on HTML elements, where possible. In short, `<header role="form">` will now be a type error. Spent quite a bit of time going through the spec docs to build that out, doing our part to make the web more

Small DX thing in Preact 11.0.1: when an error escapes with no error-boundary, preact/debug now tells you which component threw and prints the component stack

I think malleable UI is the future, but when an agent changes the view it could need less data (we're okay there) or more data (back-end changes?) and let that just be a thing GraphQL is strong at! We'll just need to fix the schema --> context pollution problem

Love the website, some nice animations in there

Introducing 📦upm: 🪶A fast, tiny package manager for the npm registry. ✨Written in TypeScript, it installs at native-class speed and has a JS API, at a fraction of the size of native tools. 🤝Compatible with your existing .npmrc and lockfiles. 👉 Try at upm.sh

If folks ever ask me what in my tech career have had me proud beyond belief, it summarises to - Preact 10 and 11 - Vite using the wmr plugin container we created back in the start - Partial query caching graphql in stellate Before AI coding ofcourse

One of the things I really regret is using Proton mail for ReSynapse. Kind of want to create a platform on top of CloudFlare to do my mailing, calendar, ... just so my Hermes can reach it

We have $100K to give away to open source maintainers! Let us know your suggestions and nominations.

Good DX with good performance has always been my passion, if you want a meta-framework for Preact, please try it out!

I am very impressed with Pracht's ability to optimize apps for performance. Adding caching, ISG, and image optimizations can turn an average-speed app into one that gets a perfect Lighthouse mobile score. Link to code: github.com/MaxwellCohen...

Folks using drydock, I'd love for y'all to submit pull requests to the repository to display your logo! This project has really grown as a passion to secure our supply chain, I'm hoping we can do more!
