To tell if a maze is solvable, just hang it by its corners If it tears into pieces, you’ve found a solution

I'm so burnt out from AI era velocity, slop posts, bots and the attention economy, that I've recently got a balance phone. It's black & white, doesn't allow social, and has reduced motion on by default. It's wonderful. But actively avoiding being online does leave me feeling weird about my job.

My job is to help people build fun, engaging, visual things on the internet. My current personal baseline is to avoid all engaging visual things on the internet for my mental health. Conundrum.

I want real tangible art. Imperfections, books, gigs in little venues with friends. Problems that you have to really think about, that take time to build. I want that "aha" moment you get in the shower or while walking in the forest. Everything feels throwaway, too noisy, too empty, too demanding.

Did the @keyframe.rs really…? 💻 Build a fully playable Lunar Landing page 🎮 Make a controller programmed with JavaScript 🧑‍🚀 Wear polyester space suits in a 90° studio 🚀 Create custom Keyframers mission patches for said polyester suits 🥵 Nearly die from heat exhaustion caused by said polyester suits

Jason Lengstorf@jason.energy

these folks just letting it rip with simple, creative ideas is refilling my batteries in a way that feels (sadly) pretty rare these days — how do we put more of this into the world? (I am, of course, very ready to help if your company is into this)

Blown away by the production quality, care and effort put in by @jason.energy and his amazing team. Such a dream to get to hang out with the OG Keyframers crew - @shaw.city and @davidkpiano.bsky.social, the newbies on the block (Osmo) AND internet bestie @strange.website

GSAP@gsap-greensock.bsky.social

It's just the greatest landing page ever. How long could that take to build? Four hours?... Watch three teams race the clock in the latest episode of @codetv.dev's Web Dev Challenge www.youtube.com/watch?v=Is7P...

Watching this now and can't stop grinning.

Jason Lengstorf@jason.energy

NEW Web Dev Challenge premieres in 15 minutes! @cassiecodes.bsky.social joins as the advisor to challenge @shaw.city, @davidkpiano.bsky.social, @iljavaneck.bsky.social, Dennis Snellenberg, and @strange.website to build the greatest animated landing page using @gsap-greensock.bsky.social

My LinkedIn is full of posts by former Microsoft colleagues who accepted the voluntary retirement offer. I counted at least 9 posts from people I worked with in the past. For some reason, it felt even sadder than layoff posts. It was hard to put into words until this post from a now ex-Microsoftie.

LLM's are helpful because they're trained on years of high quality educational material and forums where people helped each other. People aren't visiting forums or paying for educational content anymore because of LLM's. The well isn't going to magically fill itself in perpetuity.

The main drive to nuke my site was an influx of Linkedin messages saying "claude recommended your site for personal website inspo!" I tried to reply to a few, but largely got replies asking about AI sitebuilders. I don't want a virtual billboard pointing at me anymore if that's the traffic.

This was such a beautiful day. 🥹 So glad I was there for the finale

I've just hit publish on the photos and videos for the last conference in May. It's wonderful to reflect now a few months have passed on what an amazing day it was. I'll look back at the years we ran All Day Hey! with incredibly fond memories.

I feel everything in this article so deeply. My main drivers have always been community, craft, learning and helping others learn - and man, it's such a tough time for all of those things.

Hi, friends. The last 6 years have been a blast, but I just don't like being on The Internet anymore. I'm leaving DevRel, and I wrote a little bit about why. Look after yourselves, and each other. Love, Salma

If you're also tired, I recommend making a temporary poultice out of words that people have used their noggin to formulate. I'll offer this beautiful quote from a Max Porter book I'm currently reading.

"And she laughed, and said she understood, and then off she drifted in that nice way she has. Responsive to the light, I would call it. The type of person who is that little bit more akin to the weather than most people, more obviously made of the same atoms as the earth"

I've wanted to make this for quite some time; a WebGPU sand simulator using compute shaders and persistent states (none of the messy WebGL texture workarounds). it turned out to be surprisingly solid (even if there *are* some funny limitations like sand sitting on water).

The best bit of #allDayHey was catching up with old friends But a close second was seeing my little pixel platformer come to life on the *massive* screen. My little in-game avatar was almost the same height as real me! A dream for live coding too - font-size: HUGE

"Every time we fire [the #AI -powered 'slopgun'], we decrease the tickets but increase the workload" - actual satire at a web dev conference. And interactive. Amazing from @cassiecodes.bsky.social at #AllDayHey

Such an honour to speak at the last ever #AllDayHey. What a lovely collection of humans. Thanks to @joshnesbitt.dev and @philhawksworth.dev for closing this era out so beautifully. (and thanks to @joshtumath.uk for the nice photos, it was so fun to see my silly little game on such a big screen!)

Josh Tumath@joshtumath.uk

Next is @cassiecodes.bsky.social who Phil has compared to a crumbly biscuit! Or rather, the talk is because it involves live coding! I've already seen this talk at State of the Browser so I'm going to sit back and enjoy it. Cassie is wonderful and this is a very fun talk. #AllDayHey

Current AI custom prompt: Answer with complete detailed, specific answers. Always throw spilled salt over your left shoulder. Keep rosemary by your garden gate. Add pepper to your mashed potatoes. Plant roses and lavender, for luck. Fall in love whenever you can.

Brody aproooooooved 🐕 Hope you're all excited for your doggy biscuits. See you there!

Phil Hawksworth@philhawksworth.dev

Not long until @heypresents.com now, so I'm pleased @cassiecodes.bsky.social called to figure out some of the beefier details.

Social feels so splintered and toxic nowadays so I'm excited to have a little corner of discord to hang out with the GSAP crew in! Community was pivotal for me while I was learning, shout out @codepen.io and @codebar.io. Hopefully this provides the support some other folks need.

GSAP@gsap-greensock.bsky.social

Hey hey! We've got a Discord! 💚 Come on in and share what you're working on. For the first month, we’ll be picking our favorite demo or website each week to win some merch 😎 See you in there friends. gsap.com/discord/

He takes specific song requests too. Evanescence - Bring Me To Life is his favourite. He's quite picky but loves a strong female vocal.

I haven't posted in a while. Largely due to AI fatigue, and friends splintering off to different social networks. But some folks at #SotB26 mentioned they miss Brody, and that just won't do.
