Probably not social enough for social media. My opinions have never been those of my employer.

Probably the guy who's going to come out of this one looking like a hero is André Janones, a deputy (congressman) from Minas Gerais who just kind of... decided to take the reins of the situation, more or less, and people were feeling so aimless after the first round that they went along with it.

I am entirely serious when I say that this should be seen as a moderate position. It specifically and surgically dismantles institutions that did not exist pre-9/11 and assigns their functions much as they were assigned pre-9/11.
Rep. Delia C. Ramirez has introduced a bill that would abolish not just ICE, but the DHS altogether, repealing the 2002 law establishing the agency and replacing it with one focused on protecting civil and human rights.

I spoke with @nature.com on the US Administration's new $100,000 tax on international students who stay to work. I estimate that the tax will sharply reduce the use of Optional Practical Training & thus talent inflows to the US economy. My estimates in this new paper —> www.iza.org/publications...
The proposed OPT fees are hilariously bad. I genuinely became delirious trying to read over this and explain it during staff meeting today. *Schools* will have to pay $70,000 per student applying for work authorization. Then another $30,000 for subsequent applications from the same student.

She has to just vocally reject this shit every day until it stops. Maybe that's not fair, but her current strategy is not working. If she's not going to do that, I don't want her to stay with the Fever.
Caitlin Clark's cult following has pushed the Indiana Fever to an inflection point. Or is this the breaking point? www.indystar.com/story/sports...

One knock on effect of Musk buying out Twitter is that the “respectable” racists have lost their sense of how many layers of kayfabe they have to slap on their bigotry.
New: Chris Rufo & his co-host devoted a podcast to "The Indian Question," framing Desi people as a problem to be solved. Their "solution?" Mass expulsion. For those allowed to remain: an “assimilation hazing process” w/ instances of “vulgar, defamatory racism" talkingpointsmemo.com/news/chris-r...

Well, crap. The feds appeal in the Duration of Status case.
The first protest I ever went to, was as a kid holding a "Give a hoot, don't pollute" sign while protesting a hog confinement being permitted extremely close to a small town. This data is as incredible as CAFOs are depressing.
In Iowa, there are more concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) than grocery stores. Yet for most of the public, the location of nearby CAFOs and the amount of manure they may be producing is inaccessible. Until now.
This is why they say shut up and dribble (or tackle in this case). This is absolutely a scandal and deserves to be covered as such
This is Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair. Last year, he began wearing the names of Palestinian children killed by Israel on his eye black. The NFL responded by fining him over $10,000 each time. 🧵

Great endorsement of the product, "yeah it makes everyone lose basic skills to be a functioning person but who cares?"
Ezra Klein asked Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang about AI making kids worse at math and reading. Huang’s reply: “Does it matter?” Then he said he doesn’t know his own address or phone number. “We’re going to lose some fine intellectual dexterity.” www.nytimes.com/2026/09/23/o...

no, it is the other way around. if you are looking at D+14 (or D+12 or +10 or even +8) generic ballot then there is basically no point in trying to tamper with anything. you are going to lose, the only ? is how bad it is going to be. it's when the election is *tight* that tampering makes sense.
There will be election and voter tampering by the Republicans precisely because of what these polls are indicating.

ENRAGED. The U.S. has deported more than 470 people to Haiti since July, including people who lost Temporary Protected Status, which had allowed them to live and work legally in the U.S. apnews.com/article/hait...
