Something something IDK how does one even begin to summarize who they are without cutting off parts of themselves to fit into neat little boxes?

Look, I know all the reasons we got here, but we really need to start seriously thinking about what we do in a world where The Markets punish whole countries for voting for decency, compassion, and fairness. We must stop pretending the capitalist machine is an objective, value neutral force.

It's very, very telling, I think, that the markets are so concerned about the pro-democracy incumbent winning

I think we underestimate the appeal of antigambling politics because every problem gambler is surrounded by 3-10 people who are absolutely sick of their shit.

Lula won in part by banning online gambling

None of us should forget this. Meta should be subjected to corporate death penalty and permanently broken up into small pieces.

I agree with this strategy of voting for Dems provided that they haven't embraced extreme anti-trans positions. and I definitely agree that Kaptur, Cuellar, & Turek have all crossed that line & I personally wouldn't vote for them

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

The elections are on next Tuesday, and so much is at stake, including the soul of the Democratic Party when it comes to transgender people. I am asking you to leave a very small number of races blank in which a Democrat has embraced extreme anti-trans hate. I make my case here.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

(for this post i’m doing an impression of a woman that’s been hit in the head very hard with one of the big swinging pendulums they use to test material hardness) you don’t understand. MOST democrats AREN’T running anti trans ads

Can't just say "this isn't for me" anymore it always has to be some Shareholder speak. "Gameoverse contributes nothing to society it's Shantaeslop" or some bullshit. You control the mouse you click!

I cannot stress the degree to which Talarico's campaign has made me hate that man. He is a man of no princples, be they moral or ethical, that he will not sacrifice in the pursuit of power, and is second only to the literal child rapist defender that he is opposed to.

If Talarico is positing this is a *negative* he sucks harder than I could have possibly imagined, and I have a fairly vivid imagination.

Ken Paxton voted against a state budget to increase the salary of police officers. Nearly every other member of the Texas legislature voted yes.

Yes. I was one of those kids. I spent almost 5 years as a Ward of the State. If you are also a survivor know that you're not alone and I'm so proud of you for overcoming all that.

Do you know how bad the abuse has to be for a judge to remove kids from their birth mother? Just saw Amy Acton’s CNN interview about that Ramaswamy ad and , listen, I lived in NC through the Willie Horton ad era. I’m not precious. This is so disgusting that I wish I believed in hell. I really do.

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

shitposts aside, this one is serious, my loves: if you’re just waking up and you have any service online running PHP 5.4 to latest, you need to take it down RIGHT NOW and don’t put it back online until after it’s patched absolutely catastrophic vulnerability dropped in the middle of the night

Just got all my boys together to take on the wandering ronin who came to town. There’s like 15 of us and only one of him so pretty much the only thing that would give me any pause is if he was master of the devastating and lightning-fast iaidō style. But that’s not likely. Reminder: during the most riotous parts of the George Floyd Uprising the movement was at its most popular, with the destroying of the 3rd precinct polling much higher than either presidential candidate, and it was only after months and years of revision that ppl talk like they werent

Very strange to see people post about the new Castlevania having no contact damage (good change) and come to the conclusion that it’s “frictionless game design” because “enemies can’t be annoying”. Because like. Bestie. The enemies in this game can be more annoying than you can possibly imagine

An awful lot of online discourse is basically about policing people’s emotions. It’s fine to react to this by thinking it’s cool and it’s also fine to react with disgust because Elon’s a Nazi. Once you step into the realm of rational thought (not emotion), it’s obvious Elon Musk should be in prison.

Alex Hern@hern.bsky.social

do think there's a danger of looking at extremely cool shit like a car driving upside down then doing a kickflip before landing, and convincing yourself it's actually lame because the guy funding it is a white supremacist

Dude you are a white man addressing black people, trans people, and their supporters how we need to light ourselves on fire to be your kindling. I am not going to self-immolate to keep you warm.

Look at the shabby state and increasingly authoritarian trajectory of the country and ask yourself if we can endure 2 more years of a lawless Trump administration wreaking havoc with no check from Congress, then vote accordingly. This is not the time for a protest vote or purity politics.

it's really hard to get invested in opposing "purity politics" when the "impurity" we should be allowing is the stripping of my civil rights and the rights of those i care about

so many of us saw this coming (Radley included), from January 2025:

newrepublic.comThe Laken Riley Act Spells Chaos for the Immigration SystemThe U.S. immigration system isn’t ready for the havoc and expense this bill could unleash. But the real pain will be felt by the immigrants the bill targets.
Radley Balko@radleybalko.bsky.social

Ex-boss filed a $12 theft charge against an ex-employee because she got a restraining order in response to his creepy behavior. Charge was never prosecuted, but it gave ICE an excuse to arrest and detain her. Congratulations to the 58 Democrats who voted for the Laken Riley Act. You own this.

Any Democrat announcing pre-emptively that they won't impeach Trump is not just failing to fulfill their constitutional duties, they're signaling to Trump that he can ramp up the abuses because they're not going to hold him accountable. Nope.

jamelle@jamellebouie.net

wrote on saturday that trump was not going to let democrats avoid the question of impeachment and here we are with an offense that would have had a president impeached, removed and *at least* exiled if it had happened at any point prior to now.
