new reference PDS container has been published! if you do the classic self-hosting auto-update setup, you can force a faster refresh with: sudo pdsadmin update and while you are in there why not: sudo apt update sudo apt upgrade

all atproto server-side apps/services: you are affected. - pds: service proxying is outbound tls requests - firehose consumers: tls to relays/jetstream - relays etc: tls to pdses, plc - identity resolution: tls to plc and did:web hosts - etc if you only ship code to the browser, you are ok.

Hi protocol friends! I've been cooking up a Very Large PDS (vlpds) implementation capable of scaling up to billions of accounts and down to just one. It uses Object Storage as its only state, supports HA operation, live scaling up and down, is feature-complete with the reference PDS, and is FOSS.

@blackskyweb.xyz's account onboarding for new accounts is so nice. I missed the pictures but the very first slide was on the community labeler and guidlines. They do a great job highlighting other apps on the Atmosphere and that their account works everywhere, default For You feed as well

i think my biggest opinionated atproto take is "if you cant nuke your DB and rebuild 90-99% of your app state from just backfill then youre doing it wrong". all in on PDS being the only real authoritites on state in the network

NotebookLM is such a good idea and it would be so useful if anything other than a Gemini model was running it. Nothing has convinced me more than this that Gemini models are incapable of doing anything other than directly parroting the exact material fed into it.
