NLNet grants have an interesting new rule: "It is not allowed to use generative AI for producing artefacts of any kind, including code, design, and documentation." nlnet.nl/foundation/p... Well good luck with that in 2026

Legend has it that there's going to be a robust tech-in-journalism track at Atmosphere 27. A community of hundreds of the most cutting-edge builders and thinkers on the internet will be there. You should probably apply to speak and share your work. Yes, you. atmosphereconf.org/speak

What @freemix.fm is doing is so ambitious, well executed from the jump, and just so freaking *cool*. They created an entire music platform with a built-in sharing and licensing system, all on atproto. You gotta see it.
It started with a dream 20 years ago... 10 months of work with a lot of help from the AT Proto community, Bluesky, and friends. FreeMix is live!!! Open to all and all genres welcome. Free to join. I can't wait to see what you create. (oh and some exclusive tracks by me ready to be remixed)
Found out that cal.eu (a 🇪🇺 service by cal.com) is shutting down 💀 at the end of the month, so... ...now selfhosing cal.rs for the scheduling 📅 and using meet.ffmuc.net for the video part 💪 DM me if you have something fun to talk about and I'll send you the link 😀 #FirstTimeRust

AT Protocol devroom is coming to FOSDEM 2027 🎉 @edouard.paris and I will open the CfP by October 27, mark your calendars ✍️
My Mac Mini (M2 Pro, 16 GB) kept choking when running many parallel LLM sessions + local test suites. Needed way more memory ➡️ swap overflowed ➡️ trashed the CPU ➡️ many forced tea breaks for me 😅 Meanwhile my game PC has 48 GB RAM + RTX 5070 and was doing.... nothing. 👀 Time to make same changes 🧵👇

Now: * PC runs CachyOS fulltime as my main machine: daily apps, dev work, some gaming via Steam/Proton, ALL video calls (+ @stream.place? 😅) * ThinkPad still for when I'm on the move. Windows only boots for the few games that need it (if any?)
I think the MacMini stays for now, but mainly for testing the @sifa.id iOS app in the iOS Simulator, not really using it for anything else anymore. Probably headless for development and then VNC in to it for click demo's? Anyone else using a Mac just for iOS development? 🤷

Idea for @atmosphereconf.org: everyone is required to bring someone they like but it's someone that doesn't have an atproto account yet...

Sorry it took so long, I was at a conference
Why I’m betting on the #Atmosphere 🌀Yesterday my daughter asked me to help update her CV. @sifa.id is perfect for her, but lacked some options for general contact details. DM to @gui.do, shared a few ideas, and LESS THAN 24 HRS LATER, @lulu.mu.social is ready for her job fair tomorrow morning ❤️👐
I expect you to perform this live at @atmosphereconf.org @pfrazee.com, start picking your background dancers
I do like popcorn, but this week is on another level
We understand that you may prefer not to share your age range and nationality publicly. If so, you can delete your account under Settings → Account → Delete account. You can read more about how it works and the reasoning behind it here: wsocial.eu/profile/wsoc...
And to wrap up the ATScience intro's before we go to the workshops: @tgoerke.bsky.social with a super neat atproto hardware project 💙 Should we invite Torsten to run a hardware station at @atmosphereconf.org...?

Later today, we're going to be welcoming the first researchers onto our PDS at #IOSP2026! Aster ID starts today. 🌼
The modern research ecosystem of online tools and communities is controlled by for-profit companies. But we think that researchers should be the priority - not the product. So, we're announcing Aster ID: not-for-profit Atmosphere account hosting for researchers.

Really liked this episode with David Krakauer, especially the part about "Surrendering our Capabilities" and the clear distinction made earlier between competence and capability (related to how human brains and AIs do things)
Why wait for your database to be hacked if you can just publish private passport data to a public PDS straight away?
"W Social may have published personal information such as your full legal name, date of birth, email address, and nationality in their public records. Information which many would expect to be remain private." wdonthavetime.offprint.app/a/3mxj2ohfsh...
Any company in the EU not moving away from US hardware/software infrastructure (or worse: still deploying/expanding on US infrastructure) really needs to get their shit together FAST pixelunion.eu/blog/2026/10...
Holy shit this thread
As we have communicated. We did the update on Septemebr 17th. Now a question back to you @wdonthavetime.selfhosted.social Who have funded you and what is your connection to other PDS operators? What is your motive to create a site framing public information as a "data-leak" what's your motive?
Hey @atproto.science ppl 👋 which researcher profiles do you actually keep updated? e.g. @orcid.org, Google Scholar, ResearchGate, university/lab page, LinkedIn, funder CV's (NWO, ERC, NIH biosketch), Academia.edu, conference apps... Anything else...? Which ones do you never (or hate to) update?
@stream.place in the app, can I mute certain people? Using teh same follow graph as bsky is one thing, but some of them go live multiple times a day and I don't need notifications of all of them
