Watching the tech industry unleash unpredictable software into production in the name of AI adoption, then spend twice as much time and money trying to limit the blast radius, proves humans should be investing in our own intelligence before allowing the machines to mimic us.

Being a parent is really just the best gift life has given me. It’s so wonderful but also scary to love someone this much. I melt every time he smiles

One of the most consistently neglected parts of today’s user experiences is our handling of errors. We’re so busy designing the happy paths through our products that we often forget to give the same care and attention to the times when things will go wrong piccalil.li/blog/how-to-...

Friendly reminder that I shared *an extensive* guide to ARIA live regions so you can learn more about: - what they are - what to use them for - how to use them - what *not* to use them for (!important) Part 1: www.sarasoueidan.com/blog/accessi... Part 2: www.sarasoueidan.com/blog/accessi... #a11y

I've been saying I want this for so long :D . lbvs . I do a lot of functional fitness making myself useful around the house but doing some equivalents of what an exercise at the gym would do

Apple Watch workout request: Living in the Midwest ☃️

First day of work for the year! I realize I don't get on platforms like Bluesky/Twitter when I'm off work. I think I've sorta associated them with work even though I'm not always writing about work or consuming work-related content.

The BlueSky/Twitter split feels like I'm living in a multiverse of madness. I keep wondering, will there ever be a sacred timeline (app) that everyone is on again? Is it just going to be this divided forever? Like we accept that we'll miss out on some good accounts over there

I remember when you could just buy a computer program like Microsoft Word or Photoshop and just have it on your computer forever without having to pay monthly or yearly. What a time that was

I love my life a lot more now than I used to a couple years back when I really needed escapism. However, I could still use some immersion in fantasy and maybe an occasional escape of the realities of my laborious existence caused by the pursuit of financial freedom

I loved Tems’ response to someone who asked her why Afrobeats don’t touch much of the political situations in Africa. The genre is about escapism. Even when listening to other genres, I really love getting lost in the fantasy of the melody

Last night I assembled 2 separate pieces of furniture. For the first I was like what kind of trash is this with misaligned assembly holes. I packed it up and took to UPS for return even though they’d closed. Next was such fine piece with good assembly instructions it made me crush on wood

Fun fact: If someone quotes a post of yours in a way that is unwelcome (as is commonplace on Twitter/X) there is a tool to combat the unwanted attention. Simply click the three dot menu on the quote post & click "Detach quote". This removes your post from their quote post. Useful to know, do share!

Y’all let’s talk about physician catfishing. Why do these doctors have pictures of themselves from 20 years ago? I’ll get a new physician and the face I get digitally vs IRL are many years apart

Woo! I got to play a video game today. I’ve been so consumed by adult life that I’ve not touched my controller in 2 months. That’s before yesterday when I thought I’d sneak in a game between my work day and it ended up just updating so I went back to getting work done

I feel so proud of the lists I've created and pinned to my home page. I could really just see a feed of people/things I want at anytime based on these lists. Starter-packs are cool but I've found lists to be even much better for me. I have one list called IRL friends for just people close to me IRL

When I think about projects I get done around my home, I think I'm something in between a product manager and an engineering manager. I plan and decide what projects to work on, take it to the execs (my wife :D ) to discuss priority, Then I evaluate my bandwidth or ability to take on such a DIY

I'd typically just plan projects, architect them (I make some good sketches), and find the right contractors (engineers) to execute on them. But occasionally, when I have free time and energy, I'd do them myself. I've contracted out some simple tasks I knew I could do, but it bought me time back

Just hooked up my bed’s Bluetooth speaker to the Tv and that’s crazy to say but laying in bed with the sound coming right out of it is peak home convenience. I’ve been on a journey to make my home my favorite place to be. I go places to have experiences but always look forward to being back home

For post-thanksgiving I replaced the toilet in my in-law’s guest bathroom. Saved a water damage caused by bad toilet ring from getting any worse. I thought I’d be laying down today but I’m glad to fix a problem instead
