Good news is so rare now and this really is the good stuff. It's been a Weird Time™ for publishers but CSS-Tricks being back is only going to shift the momentum in the right direction.
CSS-Tricks has a new owner! Yes, I've got the keys to the castle, so to speak. And, even after 12 years of working on the site, I'll admit I'm a little overwhelmed and nervous about that. https://css-tricks.com/css-tricks-has-a-new-owner/

Thanks to the whole PHP thing, I can’t actually send out the latest issue of my typography newsletter to subscribers, but I *can* still publish it on my site, so here it is. And after the newsletter’s extended summer break, this issue’s a long one! New fonts, new events, new books. All type-tastic.
Yet again, the industry has been let down by DigitalOcean and their abandonment of CSS-Tricks. It's time to step up and protect publishers whose goal is simply, to educate and share knowledge. bell.bz/youll-miss-p...

There were already two ways to make a color transparent in CSS, color-mix() and relative colors, and both work great. So why did they add a third with the alpha() function, which recently hit Baseline Newly Available? youtu.be/Pfj9OmvqU0Q

The deep issue isn't that CSS-in-JS was always shite, it's that the epistemic rot has settled in so deeply that teams don't know how to evaluate engineering choices on any basis but GH stars and twitter clout. Or as @baldurbjarnason.com quipped, programming as pop culture.
It’s a real shame that folk a decade ago weren’t warning developers against utterly insane things like CSS-in-J — oh.

Plenty of people will refuse to buy a product that used AI (whether as a feature or just a promo). But no one out there will refuse to buy it because there's no AI in it. The profitable choice is not to use AI.
Another café doing an AI flyer that looks like all of the others. People saying they won't eat there, others saying why blame small businesses for using AI? Yes, of course, the environmental cost, but mainly, it looks shit. How much for the ball bearings on an armadillo, topped with matchsticks?
