Air quality. I grew up in the Los Angeles basin in the 70s and 80s and remember having to stay inside because the smog was so bad - Stage 2 smog alerts, they were called. Apparently they haven't had one of those since 1988. Haven't had a stage one smog alert since 2003.

When someone saw a slave catcher in the area during the Underground Railroad, they would blow a horn to warn people and others would come out of their houses and blow their horns too. Just like we do with our ICE whistles We are part of a tradition of resistance and I think that’s beautiful

"Pokemon" is short for "pocket monsters". "Digimon" is short for "digital monsters". Therefore, "salmon" is short for "saltwater monsters". (You might object: salmon spend a big part of their life in freshwater. But pokemon spend a big part of their life outside pockets too!)

I swear to God, I would bet my house TR would knock Donald Trump out if they ever had a chance to speak.

Trump: "I even had a conversation with Theodore Roosevelt. I said, 'What do you think about the Panama Canal? Do you consider that your greatest achievement and how do you feel about the fact that the Democrats gave the Panama Canal away to Panama for $1?'"

I think people need to understand that when you're quibbling over Graham Platner, coming up with hypothetical scenarios where voting for him is a lesser evil, or worse, defending him outright, you're literally asking what level of Nazism is OK in American politics. The only answer is none.

We're not gonna win people who just want slavery back, and we shouldn't try. We should also not take our eye off the ball as long as they're still rounding up undoc'd people

Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

Well this extra ticking blows. Fun fact: I lost my father to a salmonella outbreak.

The bill to end the shutdown kills FDA food safety rules. Just like public health, food safety isn’t flashy or exciting When it’s functioning well, you barely notice it. But it’s necessary for our survival. Food borne illnesses have been on the rise & this cut will endanger lives l

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death. Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written." Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating. 🧪🧬🧫
