This new Home Assistant MCP tooling is clearly the future for smart home automation. The complexity of HA configuration must put a lot of consumers off. I'm now running codex on a raspberry pi and asking the AI to configure everything. There's even a local model option.

Holy crap. Lit team member @rictic.com used Claude to create a "How lit-html renders" video and it's frankly... jaw-dropping. Yes, it's a lot like my talk intro'ing lit-html, but that was a good talk! This is deeper, more clear, and has great visuals. lit-html-series-v1.a1.demo.rictic.com/renders/

every now and then, on X i’ll see someone joking about how bluesky doesn’t have an AI community bro, i switch from X to bluesky because the AI takes here are more interesting. My feed is almost entirely AI-positive

I suspect once we figure it out agentic work in software will actually be a huge aid to codebase comprehension This is such a wildly unpopular thought right now but you know what I'm going to pre-register my belief in this possibility

Odyssey was great. My daughter would like to add Spirit Stallion of the Cimarrón to this new genre.

If the plot is “no price is too high to pay to bring Matt Damon home”, I am fully sat for the movie.

So apps are the V in MVC?

dan@danabra.mov

atproto has one big idea: apps should be lenses rather than boxes this idea is still unknown to majority of internet users. even to the majority of web developers we’re still at a phase where, if you explain it to someone, you can literally see it clicking for them in real time

After thinking about this question all weekend, I think my favorite candidate is the alchemical symbol for air: 🜁 It’s connotes both atmosphere and “transfer”. It’s a standard Unicode character. It references a capital “A.” And it’s very simple, which feels appropriate for a protocol, like 🌐 or 🛜.

The mobile version of Gemma 4 E2B only uses 0.84 GB of memory, but the full model is over 2 GB. The per-layer embeddings are 1.2 GB and aren't loaded. Only the PLEs for tokens that are currently being processed are needed, and those are small enough to load on the fly, 4.5 KB/tok.

Tim Duffy@timfduffy.com

Google managed to make the mobile versions of Gemma 4 E2B and E4B remarkably small, I'll have to look into how they manage this

Great and super simple write up about agent memory. Love posts like this that explain the magic away.

Introducing Prefab 🎨 A generative UI framework for building MCP Apps, data dashboards, or whatever you (or your agent) want. In Python. (Really.) 100+ shadcn components. Real React. No JavaScript required. And built right into FastMCP 3.2. prefab.prefect.io

This is very cool.

oh i forgot i made a thing. domains finally registered and nameservers switched over. atproto.md a simple pdsls for your agents try it out, let me know what i should add. it’s also open source, it’s just a cloudflare worker: tangled.org/socialde.pt/...

Two papers came out last week that suggest classical asymmetric cryptography might indeed be broken by quantum computers in just a few years. That means we need to ship post-quantum crypto now, with the tools we have: ML-KEM and ML-DSA. I didn't think PQ auth was so urgent until recently.

words.filippo.ioA Cryptography Engineer’s Perspective on Quantum Computing TimelinesThe risk that cryptographically-relevant quantum computers materialize within the next few years is now high enough to be dispositive, unfortunately.

The problem I'm seeing with agentic driven development is that most models are trained on sample code or snippets and need very explicit skills to make sure the generated code is modular and sustainable. Sure, you can make changes that cross concerns very quickly now. But you shouldn't.

It's going to be a busy week at TC-39 this week... I've got three proposals on the table I'll be trying to get advanced. First is TypedArray concat github.com/tc39/proposa... const u8_1 = new Uint8Array([1,2,3]); const u8_2 = new Uint8Array([4,5,6]); const u8_3 = Uint8Array.concat([u8_1, u8_2]);

FastMCP 3.0 is here! This is our largest and most ambitious release ever. We've re-architected the framework to support the next generation of MCP applications. It's time to move fast and make things. 🧵
