correct, I should probably add a private option that just stores them on my servers (or AT private storage eventually) but it's also really nice that you don't even need the OPML export/import dance to switch clients

Wanted to try, but is this normal to give sweeping permissions to all of my data just to try an app? Does bsky not provide more fine grained controls? Or am I missing something?

What finally tipped you toward trying RSS? And what would make it click for you, the reader app, the feeds, or just finding good stuff?

ah, sorry, seems this was not directly visible for you: my post was a reply to this one: bsky.app/profile/disn... and as you have a connector for bluesky already it would be great to support this also. :)

Oops, I started a new project: Skyreader, an RSS reader on the AT Protocol. Share cool articles like it's 2010 and Google Reader would never die. skyreader.app www.disnetdev.com/blog/2026-01...

One issue I ran into, when including a bluesky account as an RSS feed, it works except that they're all untitled. It might be good to make the title the name of the account or something like that. (have to do this for sites that don't have working RSS but do have an account).

This would probably really catch on if you could share the feeds on bluesky, like a link that would add a person's feed to the following tab in the skyreader app.

bug: says PAR request failed: {"error":"invalid_scope","error_description":"Scope \"repo:app.skyreader.feed.subscription\" is not declared in the client metadata"} on login

Oooooooh Would be sick to have it as standalone app in the future Even more if managed to support both desktop and mobile (for now I read RSS on my phone, because I just didn't vibe yet with any desktop readers)

Loving to see the atproto usage to - bring back the social part to RSS readers - keep a easy backup of your subscriptions - enable cross platform/app/device sync easily I didn't know I needed it so much

I’ve wanted to do this (but probably with my own spin on what an RSS reader would look like to me). Still need a deeper dive into ATProto (on my never ending todo list). But in the meantime this looks cool and I’ll definitely check it out!

Amazing! 🤩 I’ve been putting out repeated pleas for exactly this. If you start charging for it (hope you do!) please do come knocking to collect.

There’s this super light RSS reader: github.com/collie-reade... by @parksb.bsky.social As of a few weeks ago it now comes with a tiny server for self-hosting. If someone adds login-with-atproto to this and puts it up as a service, I’m bailing on Inoreader and will pay $50/yr in a heartbeat.

I’m importing the first batch of my OPML now and I’m wondering if it’s necessary to download so many articles right away; I only need like one from each to confirm that it’s working; rest could be pulled on demand. btw I guess this means all my feeds are public on my PDS now?

yeah have some limits on first import but probably could be even more limited than is currently. and yeah feeds are public on PDS, which admittedly is a little surprising coming from other readers so tried to highlight that when you add feed.

Can the limit of 100 feeds be raised on a per-account basis? Inoreader (free) is limited to 150 so that's what I'm trying to bring over. Number of feeds is also a common payment gate which seems quite sensible.

Main integration I want is with @semble.so From Skyreader: Save article to Semble. From Semble: Subscribe to article (blog) feed. Semble could also intelligently recommend feeds I could follow based on repeated saves from the same website-feed.

check out the filter bar that pops up when you make the view. lets you filter from there. I should figure out how to make that more clear.
