every single reporting of this new feature is extremely obnoxious because its fearmongering about a highly requested feature that stems from discussions surrounding troubleshooting and whatnot becoming relegated to closed off discord servers instead of public forums and discussion boards.

on this point in particular: egs sales are so bad it's common for devs to share and compare out of disbelief, and often what you find is quite popular games are selling only in the double or triple digits of copies last i checked, my game had sold (drum roll please) five

As Alex notes in this thread, AI doesn't "democratize" science. Rather, it compels scientists to rely on anti-egalitarian means of directing their attention.

i would love it if any politician or pundit could be talking about the sweeping changes to medicaid set to kick many many many people off the only insurance available to them in the coming months, instead of litigating whether or not trans people are too mean for the millionth goddamned time

One of the more insidious phrasings I've seen with the Dems/trans rights discourse lately is the idea that trans people are being greedy and demanding a "maximalist" approach to trans rights. No, you cannot call the state of rights American trans people had as recently as 2023 "maximalist," sorry.

can only speak for animation but if work for a new season starts up within a 12-month period, they are required to offer the previous crew their old positions. after that period they can hire whoever they want my last studio waited 12 months and 1 week to start hiring for their BG Paint department

btw they do this so they don’t have to hire back the same crew on a raise 🤙 (speaking from experience)

Back in 2021, the German senate decreed in their infinite wisdom that 18+ games must verify the player's age every time the game launches Instead of implementing that insanity, Valve decided to stop selling adult games in Germany entirely 👋

Update: even after we removed the entire sex quest, Steam mis-classifies Future? No Thanks! as pornography, making it invisible to most Steam users and completely geo-locked in Germany. We are currently at Gamescom in Cologne, everybody is asking us why they can't see the PAGE of a Teen rated game.

Jessica reposted

It keeps happening. Again, this game - even with the sex stuff still in - would probably pass muster as a 15+ rated title. From what I've seen, it is SUPER tame. Valve are absolutely insistent that it is porn.

it sucks that steam has just gotten away with not giving a fuck for so long and continue to just have an entirely opaque system for what they allow on their storefront with basically no real path to dispute it, and devs/pubs always just have to find this shit out last minute

Ben Collins@bencollins.bsky.social

I think it's bad that the Democrats' House leader is having secret chummy meetings with a guy doing a domestic ethnic cleansing operation and funding a genocide abroad, then spending his entire week going on cable news to complain about a lefty Twitch streamer who nobody knows. Sorry for offending.

Ugh: A new Massachusetts poll has a 51-32 lead for a ballot initiative to adopt the top-two “primary” system. This system has been a wreck in California. LLMs cease to be useful when they can't be used to scam people into unknowingly reading slop anymore. When the typewriter was invented, no one had to pretend its output was handwritten to get people to accept it. Typing had its own utility. LLMs are scamtech that have no utility outside the scam.

the irony, lost on your average bigot, is that it IS due to indoctrination! specifically how we have indoctrinated societies around the world to value straight relationships more than any other kind artificially decreasing the rate at which people identify as queer. break that? rate rises. easy.

And no, I don’t mean “reverse racism” or “hating abled people” or “heterophobia”. I mean accepting the belittling of fat people. Secretly suspecting every disabled person of being workshy. Deciding you know better than an elderly person. I mean policing bathrooms and feeling entitled to bodies.

You cannot discriminate against one group of people without it infesting the entirety of your soul. It is as true on the “left” as it is the right. Once you decide it’s cool to throw vulnerable people under the bus, you’re cooked completely.

Reskeeting this thread to remind y'all not to attend this guy's Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Sonic, & Persona cosplay meet-ups at Anime Expo this weekend. Has yelled about women who've spoken up about their assaults before, defends the guy that did the assaulting (which included young cosplayers), etc

Well, damn, definitely not going to any tokusatsu cosplay meet-ups at Anime Expo this year. The guy running both the Kamen Rider and the Super Sentai meet-ups on Thursday and Sunday is a huge Vic stan who's kinda screamed about me online more than once. Both blocks link back to his Discord.

To @bsky.app & @support.bsky.team, we already have tools available that help users filter out adult content if they don't want to see them. Plus, there's user-made blocklists on here people can use if they don't want to see accounts with adult content in them Maybe inform users about these tools?
