Been designing FM Synths and I found exploration of parameter space without actual knobs annoying, so I designed an exploration and visualization tool with @claude.jason-edelman.org running Opus 5.5. Give it a try:

FEDWATCH: “.. The filing's key message appears to be that Anthropic is no longer a consumer chatbot story. Roughly three-quarters to four-fifths of revenue comes from enterprise and API usage, making it fundamentally an AI infrastructure/software platform.” $ANT
"Both top-shelf reporting and top officials in the Trump administration, including Trump himself, have said that Musk made this decision on his own. That would be treason. The traditional way to figure out the truth of such a matter is with a trial." prospect.org/2026/10/26/d...
As a designer, coding with LLMs gives me the speed I used to only find with paper and pencil. Everything my training taught me says that’s the "wrong way round". I tried it anyway, and I'm rethinking my assumptions about speed, quality and what a design system can finally become.
“protein enriched chocolate chip cookie” is kinda the perfect synthesis of the conflicting american male desires to be a spartan warrior and also five years old
i guess this is me coming out as clearly as i have to date as an institutionalist and no longer an anti-organizationalist.
it turns out all the shit i thought was bad about organizations is actually the default case for human cooperation, and properly designed organizations actually minimize it.
i think the core problem here is not "they are polyamorous" (full disclosure: i am also polyamorous) or "they are kinky" (likewise) but that their style of social organization is intentionally informal and personalistic and ambiguous, rather than formal and institutional and clearly-defined.
I once inherited a python system that handled about $100m in ARR. It was a single Django class that was 25k lines long and had zero tests or docs that always called out to MySQL and postgres via fork+exec rather than actually using those client libraries
this is why we did a ton of polling on winning messages and what we found is that cracking down on corruption is really, really important for any cost-of-living argument because people straight up don't believe any of your promises if you don't show you're serious about accountability
If Democrats actually win big because people want a check on Trump corruption I expect every move to do so will be covered in the corporate media as being risky to their 2028 position.
I met with Finer, Sullivan, and a bunch of Biden's senior people several times throughout 2023-2024 and I cannot stress enough how maddening it is to watch them reposition now after spending the time they were actually in power gaslighting the shit out of everyone
If Democrats actually win big because people want a check on Trump corruption I expect every move to do so will be covered in the corporate media as being risky to their 2028 position.
Amazing how quickly we went from "oh no LLMs are going to flood the Internet with insecure code" to "oh no LLMs have discovered the internet was already flooded with insecure code"
rationalist: I predict there‘s a 10% chance that 100% of humanity is wiped out in 10 years
actuary: there was already a 100% chance that 10% of humanity would die in the next 10 years
utilitarian: it’s the same thing
the fact that an intermediate CA in India that sells only into the Indian market, when compromised, can generate TLS certs for literally any website on the internet, that feels like a major trust boundary problem
After the firefighting is done (and a nap) we'll need to have a long, serious conversation about the state of non-browser non-platform X.509 verifiers.
The Linux status quo is "a pile of PEM files behind a dumpster" and that's not an acceptable excuse for a root store in 2026.
I can finally tell you all about this project that has consumed my life.
I am so excited to announce this searchable dark money database aimed at exposing political influence networks.
This is just the first phase of the project too. We have big plans.
one of the things that we keep seeing is people making real, new discoveries with AI because they're looking at things nobody looked at before.
this will, also, result in a lot of crankery but i think it's important to acknowledge that it's not all crankery
So many questions about the world around us that have never found an answer because it never found funding. Maybe we don't need that scale of funding anymore
Huge follow-up reporting to my scoop: The Guardian confirmed America Next—the conservative nonprofit founded by Bobby Jindal that was offering students $ to disrupt El-Sayed events—paid a firm registered to Tommy Teepell’s dad Timmy $250k for “canvassing and influencer marketing” against El-Sayed.
As with anti-divorce arguments, the underlying premise here is that any explicit break in the family is a grave moral violation. And the underlying premise *there* is that some family members get to be immune to consequence, and others are prevented from complaint. Imagine defending that!

The generation that got to buy cheap houses thanks to a postwar construction boom, then blocked new housing construction to juice their asset values is now whining that they have to pay taxes on their unearned wealth. Just breathtaking selfishness.
The question isn't “Does AI possess moral status?”
This is a red herring.
It's “What kind of person do I become if I make a habit of treating beings I encounter with contempt?”
My teenage children, who have never set foot in NYC, go around saying "Help me, Mamdani!" whenever anything goes wrong and/or they can't figure out their homework, just to give everybody a sense of the scale of this man's presence in the culture lol
A surprising number of professional arrangements depend on bundling genuinely difficult intellectual work with enormous quantities of routine labor, procedural gatekeeping, credential requirements, and information asymmetry.
AI starts unbundling those things.
Masked Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian villagers on Friday, setting olive groves on fire and slinging rocks.
Caught in the attack was Post photographer Heidi Levine. “They just kept kicking me and kicking me, like probably 50 times,” Levine said. https://wapo.st/4yt6dHY
Now in public beta, Claude Platform can send OpenTelemetry traces from the Messages API, Claude Managed Agents, and the Claude SDKs to your observability stack.
Rep. Delia C. Ramirez has introduced a bill that would abolish not just ICE, but the DHS altogether, repealing the 2002 law establishing the agency and replacing it with one focused on protecting civil and human rights.
New on our Engineering blog: Creating in-house source control.
In May, we merged around 2,500 code changes per day. In September, we merged more than 30,000 per day. As a result, we became bottlenecked by developer infrastructure built for human (rather than agent) scale.
The irony of angrily assuming that this is a leftist vs. liberal thing because the Chapo boys hate it is that Digger is ultimately making a point about recuperation, a leftist concept, in which radicalism is sanitized and cartoonized through popular culture to absolve the horrors of capitalism
I dont care about the movie or the celebrities, I'm just incredibly damn sick of your smug ass "heh why doesnt leftist....do stuff" shit as if most of us have litterally any power at all.
Imagine what going to the dentist would be like, if the way people became dentists was "be born to someone who already owns a dental practice."
That's how we get new farmers!
So agribusiness, in a lot of ways, exists to fill in the knowledge & performance gaps that come with job-by-inheritance.
By repeating this lawless and racist lie, Rep. Valadao proves himself either irreparably ignorant, maliciously dishonest, or both.
Terrorized communities are being slandered and called criminals by their own congressional representative, who is too much of a coward to defend his own constituents.
both software engineers’ and mathematicians’ jobs have been mostly automated, but for the latter it feels catastrophic but not for engineers
why?
imo it’s because mathematicians relied on attribution & honor, whereas for software it’s easily reduced to the net value produced
this x 1000. we have been dealing with wily, intelligent, selfish agents for literally the entire existence of "we". we have an enormous stock of tools for dealing with such things. AI is not special.
We have a historical opportunity to overcome all this hatred and self-hatred this and defeat Teump and Hegset soundly; and then to turn things around. A chance not to be missed!
