"Today was the best day for global democracy in quite a while“, writes @stevelevitsky.bsky.social re. election results in Serbia and Brazil. This graph shows why. Between 2012 and 2022, 🇧🇷 #6 and 🇷🇸 #9 had some of the steepest LDI declines in the world, in the same group as Hungary, Turkey and India

Here's Lula celebrating tonight with Erika Hilton, a transgender politician who led the drive to end the six-day work week in Brazil. Erika showed workers solidarity, they showed her solidarity back. Solidarity is how fascism loses.
“Democrats have to join Republicans in saying awful things about trans people to win in red and purple states” Citation?

Not only a vital defeat of the far right, but also a win of inestimable value for the planet.

Hey @404media.co , you sure falling domino piece is the right metaphor here ?
So, Disney gets key leadership, researchers, and IP of Character[.]AI, but leaves a husk of a bankrupt company to face all the lawsuits.

BS.

But this reasoning assumes that those who move from the center to the far right are center-right at heart. Many of these voters were far right already, and simply had no credible party to vote for. Those voters will likely prefer the original to the copy. academic.oup.com/book/57946

Nein.

general intelligence is linked to agency, which is linked to wanting things, but what is wanting linked to? in all cases we're familiar with, ultimately to pain—to a sensuously unpleasant want of food, water, warmth, etc. want to build a computer that can think? try building one that can suffer.

New this morning: @citizenlab.ca has identified an Israeli ad tech company — one that's placed ads on NBC News — that ran a secret side platform to let spyware companies plant malicious code to hack people browsing those sites. 45 Al Jazeera employees and journalists were infected!

Anchor your doc at the sloppified median, and it'll never move too far from it. Also: LLM slop is zero effort, and that 'zero effort' signal becomes part of the message of the piece. "Why should I read/edit/review what you couldn't be bothered to write?" &c.
asking people to edit LLM-generated content gets demonstrably worse results, than asking for authorship from scratch you'll see lower idea diversity, and lower recall

Yet again, the EU surrenders to Trump. After facing pressure from the US State Department, @kajakallas.bsky.social's EU foreign service pulled out of a conference this week at the last minute – because one of the panels dared to discuss American disinfo in Europe.
