This must be satire. I am really not anti-AI but if you need AI to come up with “the impossible task” of listing three points on what makes *your own child* special, you do deserve the robot apocalypse.

David Gura@davidgura.bsky.social

cool, cool

AI-ing any child related tasks to me is even worse than letting AI do art, or writing. Like, quite seriously, at one point you need to wonder what being human actually means. What are you trying to save time for when you outsource engaging with your kids?

(And yeah yeah this is bluesky so I obviously don’t mean using AI to make childs play more interesting or anything like that. But asking AI what makes your daughter special. Having AI read to your kid. That kind of stuff.)

Some words from me in the @theipaper.com this weekend. My last trip to Kyiv highlighted the critical importance of anti-ballistic missile systems and civil defence, both of which the UK badly lacks. Most importantly, I highlight the critical necessity of continuing to support Ukraine.

The i Paper @theipaper.com

What Ukrainians are experiencing is not an exception – Britain needs to accept that an adversary would do exactly the same to us in times of war trib.al/Dkuibjg

It’s not possible to do polls here, right? Because I really would like to know who here *watches* podcasts. I just don’t get it. Anyone here who goes to Youtube to watch a dialogue/interview podcast if same podcast is also available as… podcast? Please explain.

And the prize for most annoying reply in really quite a while goes to this person. That’s an impressive level of vitriol as reply to a genuine question.

Peinlich.

The next Bond movie should be set in Ukraine and Putinists should be the villains.

Martin Concagh@mconcagh.bsky.social

All the discourse about James Bond being a hopelessly outdated relic of the Cold War has to contend with the fact that the best James Bond film was released in 1995.

Especially in Germany, we learn so much about WWII, but it is predominantly about the Shoa (understandably so). The French story is even more insane than I knew. Highly recommended. Let’s see if I ever find time for part II.

Especially the whole Africa part of the story is *insane*. (And my grandfather was actually captured - by the French! - in Africa).

"When asked where this agreement had come from, Trump admitted that he had made it up. It was entirely in his head, which is where so many of his great diplomatic triumphs appear to occur." @ldfreedman.bsky.social

My latest post attempts to make sense of a difficult time in US-Ukraine relations, in which the dysfunctions of the Trump administration were on full display. Trump’s claims that Putin was ready to make concessions was shown again to be make-believe. (£/free trial) samf.substack.com/p/ukraine-wi...?

Yeah how odd to increase protection after seeing groups loot, and literally burn down government buildings Let’s rather hand them the key, direct.

Voilà où nous en sommes. Le pouvoir préfère se barricader derrière des véhicules blindés plutôt que d’écouter les revendications légitimes des citoyens.

Love all the people saying “but they should talking/doing X instead”. There are lots of things the government can and should be doing but it would be *absolutely irresponsible* to not secure government buildings given what we have seen.

Yeah, good. (Many Chinese cars also not allowed on Bundeswehr bases either)

At this point, I am not even surprised or dismayed by Franco-German defence projects not working. I am mainly shocked that somehow we are not even able to end these projects with some semblance of order and cooperation. Check out our discussion on Le Casque et la Plume.

God I love Switzerland. In every other country (especially Germany these days) it’s “please arrive the day before, please plan with at least 3h buffer.” In Switzerland: “oh your train arrives 15 min before you go on stage? No problem, that’s plenty of time!” #punctuality #efficiency

My second most boomer opinion is that I will absolutely not respond to any kind of professional request on *Instagram * . Come on, my email is easily findable, I will not schedule interviews or respond to queries is freaking instagram messages!!

Btw, that’s the kind of manoeuvre I think the west could be doing more. It’s not an attack, it’s not escalation, but it is sending a signal.

“The reason it’s hard to think of a precedent of America switching sides in a conflict like this is that there really isn’t one,” said Richard Haass. (…) “What’s unprecedented here is the decision to reverse course and penalize the victim of the invasion — Ukraine — while rewarding the aggressor.”

nytimes.comTrump’s Push for Deals With Russia Powers His Frustration With Ukraine (Gift Article)The series of recent steps by the president that seem to favor Vladimir Putin reflect his intensifying desire to normalize the relationship with Moscow even if it means further undercutting Ukraine.

Wow this is harsh on Merkel. (Undeservedly so, in my view. Criticise Merkel for Nordstream all you want but this is an unfair comparison)

It’s really striking how much time I spent this week scheduling and rescheduling events/interviews etc just for them to be cancelled. Even the news agencies struggle to keep up with the news cycle.

Hey friends, I need Zurich recommendations: nice places to go, be it cafés or restaurants, museums or parks. Where do you like to hang out? And anything particularly exciting for small kids under 5?
