This started up as a write-up for a cool hack I made (Atproto DID + Tailscale, coming soon 😎), but like many times before it started taking a life of its own, about how an integration of small scale networks is a more sustainable version of "internet scale" than large tech monopoly data centers.

There's so much debate about yes AI agents or no AI agents. Agents on Bluesky or not is something we can decide but when it comes to atproto, we need to be in the conversation. I'd rather these agents interact in the open with transparency and ledgers than in closed corps.

Jay 🦋@jay.bsky.team

it means people’s Muse, Dots, OpenClaws, and other AI assistants are eventually going to be interacting a lot online, and I’d rather see them do it on open protocols with user owned identities rather than in a corporate consortium.

I dunno like. ATProto good. Agents cool. AI here to stay. Psychosis fucking sucks balls and seeing it used as a prop and a rhetorical cudgel to silence opposition is fucking gross. This is well-trodden ground for me by now I don't have a 1/67 thread kind of insight to give into this subject.

Drama aside, I’m happy to see the reaffirmed commitment to open source and working with atproto devs. Happy, but not satisfied till I see them walk the walk

W Social@wsocial.eu

W is currently facing a wave of criticism that mixes false accusations, distorted facts and legitimate questions. Here is a detailed memo that addresses the claims and set out the facts. We have gone through each of the points with our independent external Data Protection Officer.

As well as this, atproto concepts such as DID and PDS are uniquely well-suited to supporting agents, it's a much better future than what big tech is trying to push us into.

To elaborate – I can declare a few agent identities as linked to my identity, and I can vouch for my humanity using my DID with <insert human verification method> as a service

And a PDS can be extended to support MCP as well as A2A interactions, users can expose context that they want their closed or open social graph to explore... there are so many cool ideas for agents and atproto and I'm so excited to see them!

Okay frick it, I'm announcing the project I've been working on. It's called Reams, a markdown editor that syncs over atproto spaces. It works offline, doesn't require a login, and has a bunch of features packed in. Try it at reams.ink, install the PWA for the best experience!

Love this framing! Big tech took away the need for users to care about any part of B2C infra by focusing on maxing user count/DAU instead, then needing to recoup on that expense, leading to enshittifying. I think users need to be exposed to just the important parts, of which identity is paramount

I judge a text editor based on whether it lets me paste a URL as a hyperlink instead of pasting it over the selected text

we need atproto superbowl ads (maybe 52% serious)

Brookie@brookie.blog

i mean i think people could use it, i just think many people don’t care and wont understand because why wouldn’t they just create a normal account. i think a lot of people are in the i don’t understand this so why bother boat.

Speaking of (no pun intended), I'm, going to be giving a talk about Atproto for cities at CivicTech Montreal tomorrow. I'll mostly be glazing @roundabout.town and Acorn. Come by if you're in town! luma.com/ql5pbdgm?tk=...

That’s a mitigating factor, not a dissolution. Abuse in a public forum is performative; it establishes a norm. Blocking protects the target, the nuclear block disrupts the connection, but the content remains, and that remnant exercises power.

Wow this is so cool

Leaflet@leaflet.pub

Did you know leaflet has a canvas? We recently got a bit carried a way and added a LOT to it. You can now: - DRAW! - add canvas pages to your publication - set view areas for mobile - make canvas images in posts - try it out at leaflet.pub/new-canvas check out this video for the full run down:

Such a cool initiative! We need something similar for regular users to gauge their understanding of the protocol (and more importantly, find out whether the protocol is addressing things they actually care about). where-were.at

re; the discourse around Cornell 7 - it would be nice if instances like this opened space for broader discussions about patriarchy and violation of bodily autonomy at a systemic level. beyond "educate your sons", "believe women" - how patriarchal violence is so nuanced and takes many forms.

Bluesky is like the 7th site using atproto they should encounter. Microblogging is not normal behavior. It is for sick people

This is huge news, especially for all the "Bluesky isn't really decentralized" folks. Having the PLC Org as wholly independent is a big, important step forward. And great to see that Filippo is part of it...

Filippo Valsorda@filippo.abyssdomain.expert

I'm excited to announce that the PLC Organization now has a statute! And a bank account! And a @standard.site publication! All the important stuff. The PLC Org is an independent Swiss Association meant to operate the PLC directory, which collects and distributes signed updates to atproto accounts.

The inherent danger of AI is the control of real world infrastructure that is intentionally given to it by humans.
