The entirety of provenance v2 and the provisio cloud service has been built managing agents in the Freeq IRC by @chadfowler.com running using herdr in boxd.sh VMs and deployed on miren.dev . Just updated the CI for the repos to publish the provenance records on AT Proto on merges to main

This is 47. It’s 24,703,200 minutes. It’s 27 years with an amazing partner. It’s 15 years of being a dad and 11 of being a dad to two. It’s 15 jobs. It’s knowing tomorrow is a gift and that we should cherish the time we have. It’s a life.

Keeping everything up to date can be such a chore! Let us take that off your plate. 🍽️🤏 Soon, Miren Cloud will be able to manage your cluster upgrades for you. ☁️🤌⏫

Good morning from the Jersey shore! Beautiful spot and yet so strange! Everywhere I’ve lived, public lands (forest, beach, desert) has always been the norm. To see the beaches here owned and operated by the towns is so strange! And many require “beach badges” to use.

I know now it’s historical: these beaches as constructs for play are from the late 19th century, and yet the idea that they are not for everyone is so foreign to my western US brain.

We washed ashore a million millennia ago and the ocean still feels like home. Maybe it’s because after a million millennia, we still carry the ocean with us inside: that’s why our tears are salty.

The pathos of our origin can seem scary and complex. But it is both beautiful and simple: we are the sea and the sea is us. There is no plan, there’s only now and every moment that we all have together.

So excited to launch Managed Clusters! Can't wait for more people to get the Miren experience!

We're excited to announce early access to our Managed Clusters product! Request access on miren.dev/pricing! Miren has always been focused on self-hosted, but there are many of you that have asked if instead Miren could run the cluster for them. The answer is now yes!

Cross-platform AirDrop replacement that works both locally and over the internet using Iroh github.com/chad/iroh-drop I have Mac and Windows clients plus a protocol and rust-based CLI. Actually useful already but it could be polished and would love to have more clients.

Deploying apps on the web has always been a major turn off for me - it feels like being gifted a litter of puppies. Assorted pain reduction services exist with tamagotchi rental economics. And then I discovered miren.dev. I have absolutely no association with them. I am just genuinely in awe.

miren.devMiren - Everything You Need. Everywhere You Need It.Miren is a deployment platform designed for small teams that provides tools to deploy, manage, and scale applications.

"I miss having a global town square where I can talk. I don't have to miss that anymore, I just have to join a platform that is more humane." Watch the full livestream where miren.dev CEO @evanphx.dev and @chadfowler.com show how anyone can launch and manage their own PDS in minutes with Miren.

I can't explain to you why, but I can tell you with certainty that this is an @evanphx.dev flavored device.

The Pocket Surfer 2 (2008, £179.99) offered 20 hrs/mo of free internet and unlimited access for £5.99/mo. Plus it was faster than any smartphone. How? DataWind preprocessed webpages on their servers as images before sending them to the devices.

When I started Miren, the idea was always to launch Miren Anywhere because it is truly what makes self-hosted clusters sing. It removes the awkward network location question and gives you the ability to use compute anywhere it might be. I'm so fucking excited to let you all use it!

miren.dev@miren.dev

Miren v0.12.0 ships Miren Anywhere: your cluster dials out, Miren's edge carries traffic back, and my-chores.miren.app can be served straight off a laptop in the kitchen 👩‍🍳💻 The "deploy works but the URL times out" wall, gone 🔄✨ miren.dev/blog/miren-a...

You draw a little guy on your phone, a pig in a hat, and seconds later it poofs onto a giant screen full of strangers' creatures. That's PIGCon Plaza, built on Miren for zero dollars by @burlaprobot.bsky.social and the @pigsquad.com crew. 1,300 people came through. miren.dev/blog/drawing...

As luck would have it, my and the family are vacationing in Copenhagen this week, which is the same week as highschool-equiv graduation and it's been an amazing and hilarious treat to witness the grads partying around the city the whole week. Today is the zenith of celebration: Studenterkørsel!

expired: having your AWS creds stolen and having a rogue actor run up a huge bill mining a crypto coin that can only be exchanged for tokens at those mammoth Japanese arcades.

tired: a static AWS key in your env vars that works for anyone who finds it 👀 wired: every app gets a short-lived identity and proves who it is to AWS, no key stored 🥷 new in Miren 0.10 → miren.dev/blog/workloa...

The family and I have been in Sweden the last week and it’s always surprising when someone hears my accent and asks if I’m from England. (I have a flat American accent) It’s an honest reminder that languages are hard even when every Swede knows English w minimum of 1000% more than I know Swedish.

The real problem was how to ship a database that users shouldn’t even know exists.

miren.dev@miren.dev

"Just use Postgres for everything" is great advice. We didn't take it. 😎 We're self-hosted, so every migration we ship, our users run across a whole fleet. Smeared SQL schemas? No thanks! Miren keeps its state as datoms on etcd. A new field? Just a new field. The story: miren.dev/blog/datoms-...

Maybe each guest gets their own porta-pottie? That is absolutely I could see this administration demanding.
