The family and I have been in Sweden the last week and it’s always surprising when someone hears my accent and asks if I’m from England. (I have a flat American accent) It’s an honest reminder that languages are hard even when every Swede knows English w minimum of 1000% more than I know Swedish.

A combination of pretending I was Canadian for a year and always being around euro-English, my accent is now from everywhere and baffles everyone.

Ha! I think it’s the flatness in mine that throws people off. The only stereotypical American I sound like is Dan Rather.
