I used to get paid work on software for people to write software. Since retiring I still kind of do, as open source. I’m also setting up a Museum of Technical and Advanced Computing http://motaac.org/ in downtown San José, CA. Proudly antifa.

i know the trot of my tone here seems slightly flippant because thats just the nature of posting, but this makes me deeply, deeply sad. like physically ill. i cannot believe there are people out there doing this. i cannot imagination seeing reflection on your own child as a task to streamline

Same. All the babies saying they "have" to stay there because of their ostensibly huge audiences all... had fewer followers than me.
I left X *because* I had a large following. People told me I was the reason they were staying on there, and I didn’t want to be responsible for 100k+ people sticking around for abuse, CSAM, and Nazis. Simple as that
“It’s inevitable! It’s here to stay! It’s unavoidable! It’s the future!” Nah, it’s shit on top of shit on top of shit. Butlerian Jihad now so people stop being taken in by this insanity.
agents are online, and they’re here to stay. open protocols are the layer that lasts, so excited to see human agent interactions being prototyped on delve.town

again, American social media companies are directly acting as proxies for what feels more and more like a state department regime change operation www1.folha.uol.com.br/internaciona...

this is the thing right, I felt like I had a pretty good handle on the utter depravity of silicon valley but I never foresaw the all-out embrace of spam. I thought "spam is bad" was one of the very few things the FAANGs were serious about, even if only to protect their ad monopolies.
something that fascinates me about this is how, for many years, whole teams inside giant tech companies were devoted to preventing exactly this scenario you didn't 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 most of your traffic to be from bots trying to game the system, so people worked hard to prevent it

This is quite literally what happened to one of my grandparents in 1933. You know, in case we still have folks in the “it’s not fascism if it doesn’t meet these very specific, arbitrary characteristics based on my own refusal to accept responsibility to oppose it” crowd.
You can’t get more Gestapo than this…. “a criminal probe into her immigration paperwork, which her late father filled out after the family emigrated to the U.S. from Somalia when she was a child”

The bizarre culture that’s sprung up around Silicon Valley AI companies - which overlaps hugely with rationalist and effective altruist circles - appears to be seriously pressuring some women into attending sex parties for the sake of networking. This is, needless to say, horrifying.

This is another great, approachable explainer on “the rationalist wackos who have managed to take over much of the AI industry, and who now have tons of money and political power.” www.iankduncan.com/personal/202...

Important reporting here on an aspect of accelerationist organizing: Atomwaffen Division clones. @svartflagg.bsky.social follows a recent incarnation of one these small copy cat groups & how they have joined a small international alliance in an attempt to create a new branch of far-right terror.
Hey, for all the people who said that LLMs are transformative fair use of the intellectual property they ingest during training? Yeah, doesn't seem like that's what even the LLM providers think…
Eye popping. Court just unsealed Summary Judgment motions in New York Times v OpenAI / Microsoft. Easy to see why the AI companies had so many redactions (pink). Their own people wrote the lede for NYT, the "largest theft of labor in human history"... "more and more substitutive..." /1

Yes, the American AI industry is massively intertwined with the people who brought you Aella’s birthday gangbang. Because they are a millenarian AI-worshipping sex cult who now have billions of dollars. knowyourmeme.com/sensitive/me...

The people who are running the massively powerful and lucrative US AI industry pretty much all know about this chart, and quite a few directly participated in the proceedings. Speaking of the rationalist sex cult who regard a Harry Potter fanfic as their Bible, and who also have tons of money.
* thus she filtered responses with appropriate data analysis tools and posted the results. as a result, none of us can think of sankey charts in any other context ever again.
